Source?

Interesting that it lists the 4.2L. This is the I-6. Last I heard was a revised carryover 4.3L V-6.

James is most likely the source. He got a subscription to a thing GM puts out for dealerships and has been posting a lot of what has been learned about the project, no pics yet though.

Interesting that the mileage figures are posted for the 8600+ GVWR vehicles. Previously these haven't been published on window sticker stickers and thus no one knew what they really got.

The Duramax equipped vehicles 13mpg city? Seems on the low side. As real world my current 2002 will get 16mpg easy in city. Mixed driving 17+ mpg.

Overall the gas offerings seem to be well improved.

Re: GMT-900 Mileage & Price Figures

No Avalance info?

Also, I'm a little dissapointed... I thought the new trucks were supposed to have DOD & 6 speed tranni's... I just thought we'd see a little better mileage than that...

Re: GMT-900 Mileage & Price Figures

True, but those are still good. You can only do so much when you have a V8, 4000#+, and truck gearing though. I'm not impressed with the Inline-6 figures though. Although, even though the EPA rating is the same - I imagine that a person will get better "Overall" gas mileage with the I6 then the V8 - but we'll see...

Good prices, the milage doesn't really seem any better than today's trucks, save a mpg here and there.

Re: GMT-900 Mileage & Price Figures

Gas milage is not quite as good as I had hoped considering DoD, going from 4 to 6 gears, etc.

The prices look great for the most part, though... but I really question whoever said the Silverado LT would have a 'base' sticker price of under 20 grand. Unless the new LT isn't going to have nearly as much equipment considered standard and is going to be available with a 6-cyl standard cab config (the previous one was V8 and ext cab only IIRC)... I just can't see them starting under 20k. If they are under 20k w/ ext cab and V8, well... damn. That's great.

Re: GMT-900 Mileage & Price Figures

2007 2wd 5.3 Silverado shows almost 15% improvement in gas mileage over my 2004 model. Pretty good when you consider that DoD doesn't do much for city mileage. Keep in mind, too, that the 5.3 supposedly goes to 355 hp and 380 torque. With a 6-speed auto, performance should get a very healthy bump. Combine that with improvement in gas mileage of 10 to 15% and it really looks like win-win........

Re: GMT-900 Mileage & Price Figures

Wow....much better than my '99 4WD Tahoe (It's get's MAYBE 15mpg mixed)

Very impressive figures.

On a side note, does anyone know if they're going to rack and pinion? I just spent the weekend driving my dad's '04 Suburban with 20k miles and the steering felt looser than my SVT with 120k miles....

I wonder if these are Ext cab? I need a 6 speed auto My Colorado Crew 4x4 gets 17/22mpg and I avg. 19-20 depending on the amount of city driving I do.

I might have to trade the Colorado for a 4.8L Silverado Ext. with the 5.5' bed. I'd love to see what a 1000lbs. lighter Colorado could do with the 4.8L and 6 speed auto.

A 2005 Dodge Ram with the Hemi gets 13/17 and a 5.4L Ford F-150 gets 14/18 mpg. I'd say the Silverado #'s a very impressive. The 4.8L Chevy gets the same city as the Ford get hwy and 5mpg better highway, also they both are 300HP.

Seeing as those mileage figures are the same as the I5 4x4 Colorado, it would have even better mileage, plus 80 more hp and 115 more tq!

...eh...I'm not unimpressed, so I guess that's a good thing. The pricing on the 2500 is fantastic, what a freak'n deal!
