Anybody remember the 1999 Nomad concept?
"The Chevrolet Nomad is a 21st Century sport wagon that recalls its '50s namesake. It combines the performance and handling of a sport sedan with the access and flexibility of a sport-utility vehicle. The Nomad is a driver’s car with versatility – V-8 power, rear-wheel-drive, an independent rear suspension, shift-by-wire transmission, a retractable roof, and an extended load floor. It is designed for the contemporary family that wants an affordable, stylish crossover between a wagon and a coupe with a flexible interior and crisp handling. The Nomad features venetian blind-type slots that kick up and slide forward, exposing a 36-inch opening in the rear of the roof. Rear seats fold flat in the Nomad to increase the usability of the vehicle. The front passenger seat also folds forward to allow additional storage for long cargo like skis, while the rear tailgate folds down and slides away to allow even easier access and loading." from MotorTrend's website

Sounds very similar overall.

Oh yeah, I really liked the Nomad concept!
I like the side view of this car. The front is kinda wack. The grille looks like it belongs on a Cadillac. (http://media.opel.com/zooms/zoom0090/00011E5B.jpg) The back looks a lot like the Mazda RX-8.
Overall, it looks like it could be the next Seville to me.

They are building a platform guys! This is a VERY good thing. I would say that the Chevy SS and The Opel Insignia are on the same platform. This new platform also shares a resemblence to the CTS. I just wish they would've gotten this ball rolling a few years ago or kept selling the 4th gens.

Nope.

They are completely different. The Insignia gives us a peek at GM's new "Sigma mass" platform....the one that will be shared with Chevy, Pontiac, Holden and Opel.

The SS concept was cobbled together with C5 front and C4 rear suspension. Beneath the SS's floorboards...there is no production intent.

Is the VY chassis everybody's been talking about?

I do see a SS resemblance in the opel.

What would the american equivalent to this be? Maybe a BUICK. Lord knows they need a new concept.
