GM's changes in reaction to it's announced quarterly losses

First item:

Even the Volt? $12 billion/year in R&D is not sustainable at this time.

Aaron91RS 11-07-2008 08:06 AM

94LightningGal 11-07-2008 08:17 AM

That's a question I want answered. In the past couple of months, a host of GM programs (damn near everything in the pipeline) have been officially and unofficially put on hold, but the Volt program has survived. I view that one as the canary in the mineshaft.

Chevy Volt program is not being delayed... yet!

HuJass 11-07-2008 08:41 AM

No bankruptcy yet.
If they can get the cash they need from the government, they can avoid BK.

If they can't, well...........................

GTOJack 11-07-2008 08:48 AM

If GM stops construction on the new $370 mln Volt/Cruze engine plant in Flint, that should send up a red flag that bankruptcy is not far behind.

But doesn't that plant qualify for part of $25B bailout already in place to develop more fuel efficent vehicles?
