GMI says Kappa platform done
The whole idea of the Solstice was to have a pure roadster. If you ever hang out with a Miata owner who is a true enthusiast, you will quickly see that they see these cars as driving cars. Kinda like the club racers and Austin Healey's from back in the day. A FWD platform simply will not work if you have these intentions.
That being said...I don't know that the Kappa cars have the true enthusiast base of say a Miata.

You're right though, I don't think the Kappa cars have taken off with sportscar enthusiasts like the Miata did/has. Therefore it may not be harmed by a shift to FWD forced by economics. Afterall Chrysler is moving forward with the Hornet on FWD, no? I'd rather see that happen than the car completely killed off due to lack of a viable and cost-effective platform.
Personally, I would only ever consider a RWD version. The comment was just throwing it out there to see what sticks.

Dang might have to hit Ford's website and see if that's doable? The IUP goes along way toward fixing things (should be standard) I didn't realize how wretched the base interior was until I worked on a base V6 car one day.
