This happened about 2-3 years ago I think... Therefore while you have the Pontiac Firebird it could have been a GMC firebird if you wanted to look at it that way. The whole point to this post is stupid being that GM is all GM and it doesn't matter in the first place. Now, if you had an Izuzu Camaro or a Toyota Camaro that would be a whole nother topic. (See... Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe)

Gee whiz! Let's get real here.
What, are we going to have a "Professional Grade" Camaro now under a brandname full of trucks??!
Actually GMC stood for Grabowski Motor Carriers (1902) and until it was incorporated by GM in 1911. Then GM renamed it GMC for General Motors Truck Company. The operations were moved to Pontiac Mich. Until 1967 GMC built seperate trucks from Chevy. But after 67 GMC became a rebadeged Chevy and the rest folks is history.
Chevrolet is named after Louis and Gaston Chevrolet. Brothers who built and raced for William "Billy" Durant (GM founder)in the early 1900's. Chevrolet Motor Company of Michigan is incorporated in November of 1911 by Louis Chevrolet, William Little and Edwin Cambell, William Durant's son-in-law. Headquarters are in Detroit. -GM.com
Ford, named after Henry Ford. First company the Henry Ford Company is started in 1901. Yet after a dispute Ford leaves. The Company becomes Cadillac and in 1902 they make the first Caddy.
Henry Ford goes on to built his own motorized buggy and then works on his assembly line idea. In 1903 he creates Ford Motor Co. and his first job is building tractors.
Pontiac actually came from Oakland Motor Car Co. GM took over Oakland Motors in 1909 after its founder Edward Murphy dies. In 1932 the company is renamed Pontiac Motor Division. -GM.com
Honda, Named after Soichiro Honda its founder. (Japan)
All I'm saying is if you want to be taken seriously with your ideas know what your talking about.
