Le Hummer...it could work

I worked for a Chevrolet dealership that also started selling the Hummer brand when the first H2's came out. I remember getting the first delivery and wow...those things were cool. The first 6 were already sold to local celebrities, so the sales manager kept a very tight reign on the keys that day.

I never understood the logic in anyone wanting to buy the H1 for use on public roads. The H2 IMO wasn't really a Hummer. I remember the 1st time I sat in one and was horrified at how cheap the interior was in something this expensive. Then there's the picture of one that made the rounds on the internet shortly after it came out on a trail that Jeeps navigated with ease, sitting on that trail with a broken front tie rod hanging from underneath.

I actually like the H3s. However, they are grossly underpowered. I think the H4s would be winners.

I think GM could save Hummer if they rolled it into GMC and sold it as a stand alone division.

Makes better sense than having GMC in with Buick & Pontiac, and selling a brand that built up a name equity that can be used to put some distance between GMC and Chevrolet trucks.

The H2 was just a rebodied Suburban. Who would think it would be any better than a Suburban off-road?

And I've seen broken H1s on the side of highways. One particular one had the LF wheel & tire jammed up inside the wheel well.

The h2 was much better than a suburban off-road. While the running gear was largely Tahoe/ Suburban derived and the body merely that a body...the H2 could go places a suburban would never dream of. The H2 is probably one of the more capable FULL size suv's out there. Many of it's limitations off-roading came down to overall size in relation to the trails available. They aren't Jeep Wranglers but they do other things better than a Wrangler could ever do.

I think to own a civilian H1 you have to be some kind of military nut.

H2 and H3 are really pointless, maybe for the 1% who will take them into the outback it's a good choice, but for the rest of us, I think their are MANY more comfortable and practical choices (Tahoe).

Their is a women at my office that drives an H2 Pickup to work (when she isn’t driving her C6) and I swear, if that H2 rear ended a normal car it would hurt! The bumper is clearly 3ft off the ground!

I see alot of H3's on the road here on the Gold Coast. (None elsewhere in Australia) Then again alot of ******* here as well.

i was thinking about hummer a couple days ago and came to this conclusion. It came out as an 03 model and has had little to no updates since. the interior was never great but it was a cool car. now days all suv's have much nicer looking interiors. maybe and update would help.

or even better how about a hybrid h2? i was thinking you could fit some big big batteries and have it be a volt like h2. it would spread out development cost on the volt, plus having a hummer that doesnt use gas for say 20 miles would be pretty cool. Im also guessing having max torque from 0rpm would be nice when offroading.
