lol a BMW 3 with a LS1!!! LOL!!! but that would be kick *** fast! I think they should come up with some sort of sport compact with RWD and a V-6 supercharged with like 250 HP, (because you really can't fit a V8 into a sport compact) that would kick some major ***, especially if they could competitively price it at 18-25K, maybe even throw the T56. AND MAKE SURE THAT LITTLE BITCH HAS SOME TQ!!!!! unlike the rest of those sport compacts.

Only if you want a live axle. The CTSv weighs 3833, the Lincoln LS is 3728, and the 300C is pushing 4,000 pounds, so if you want IRS and a V8 in a car bigger than the Mustang sized 3 series, it seems 3800 (+/- 100#) is the weight it's going to be.
Mustangs are about 3300 LBs, BMW 3-series are similar in weight. Corvettes come in at ~3200 LBs. Gigantic F-bodies were ~3400 LBs.

Most of these new V8 cars are coming in at ~3800 LBs, but I don't think they have to. Adding two doors to a Mustang or a aluminum pushrod V8 to a 3 series wouldn't push those cars to 3800 LBs...

Actually...now that I think about it...an LS6 in an M3....

Actually, people have done conversions of putting the ls1 into the older 3 series cars.. so unless the new series has less space than the older cars, it could be possible with work?

LS1 is surprisingly lighter and smaller than you would think.. it fits in RX7's and is about the equiv weight of a rotary, turbo's, piping, and intercooler. This is why pushrods still exist!

Maybe it will, but it's already in a CTS-V! For about the same price too!

Of course that's waaay over the $35,000 specified.

THe LS1 isn't that "huge" for a V8, I have seen a M3s with M5 DOHC V8 swaps.

actually, the next M3 Called M4, is going to get a V8

THe M3 I6 is longer than the LS1 and almost as wide (BMW I6 is put in at an angle)

Well, there's always the Merc Marauder. That invoices for 31k amd 34k fully loaded. It's got a 4.6L V8 DOHC Cobra engine good for 300hp.

That's about as close to what you want as you can get right now. The good stuff is yet to come out.

The beauty of a Pushrod V8 is it's compact size. About the same length as a four cylinder and about the width and height of a V6. With a nice shoehorn, you can squeeze one into just about ANYTHING.

Miatas, MGs, Fieros, Austin Healeys (I've even seen a stock appearing Sprite with a HEMI )... you name it....

A Wreath and Crest or a set of Crossed Flags.

Seriously though, Cadillacs are Cadillacs for a reason.

The Deville DTS rocks. Big, cushy, comfy, nice power, a classic big American car. Wifey needs one... so I can steal it for long trips.

Lots of folks here don't like FWD, but unless I'm looking for a true performance car, I prefer it. Sorry, I've lived in Michigan almost my whole life, and you can preach that RWD is just as good as FWD in snow, but 33 years of experience tell me otherwise... and trust me, I've owned plenty of both!
