I don't know if its just me, but I've started to notice this in the news too.

GM's quality is getting some positive statements and the media is noticing.

I just thought you guys would like to see this.

Glad to see something positive. It seems like the momentum has been shifting ever so slightly toward GM and away from the imports.

I was really surprized to see the bottom half. Audi has twice as many problems as Buick?

I think its hysterical that all the magazines kiss Audi's a@@ while they have never put out a reliable product in the entire company's history.

That's not surprising at all. Audis and VWs have amazing initial perceived quality but it's STEEPLY downhill after that.

My impression is that Audi and VW make the least reliable cars on the market. I never had anything to back that up, but I guess that this supports that impression.

Yep, and yep. "OOoooh, this dashboard is so nice, I want to make babies with it! All other interiors must bow before it!" Yeah, well, have a nice warm glass of shut the hell up...

(Actually, I do think they make nice looking interiors overall, though the new A6 interior is not as cool as the previous version...)

And the wost part is that Audi's, along with VW's, are not very easy or cheap to work on, so it multiplies the problem.

With Audis.... it's a hit and miss. My dad had Audi 5000 turbo, one of the first models (84 or 85). Everything worked great for a long time, but after about 8 years things started to fall apart. It started with electronics... Useless electronics. Sunroof motor, window motor, relays, switches, etc, etc... One thing that was absolutely bulletproof about the car was its engine. It overheated a number of times (once when I took the car to high school), my mom ran it dry of oil... it worked until the car was totalled in an accident.

Then they got another Audi, 93 100, and no problems with that car. The air conditioner still works to this day on original charge! Engine works great, differential/transmission works just fine. No problems with electronics, and the original Bose radio still plays, although there is no signal to passenger front speaker. The car has nearly 200K miles, and still drives like new on the highway.

Big thing is costs of repairs. It is ridiculously expensive! Even alignment, which costs about $100 at chevy dealer, costs $170 at Audi. And their cars cost a lot of money.

So... would I buy a brand new Audi? Perhaps if my salary was in the six figure range. I do like them very much, and the only one I could consider is a used one. But as far as brand new is concerned, I would take my business elsewhere.
