Agreed. Volt is going to be too expensive and exclusive to be a Chevrolet. While I understand where GM is going in making Chevy its value and fuel economy brand, Volt just is too pricey. (I seriously doubt it will cost a mere $40k. Perhaps after Gov't credits for buying a quasi-hybrid-EV, but the sticker is going to be closer to $50k than $40k... mark my words.) Cadillac makes more sense.
