Yea because the RWD V8 Impala sold sooooooo well.

Face it, most Americans do not want RWD. It doesn't snow or rain too much in the middle east , or austrailia.

The more I think about this, Chevy would be smart to keep the Impala FWD and introduce the RWD Caprice to cover both markets. I'm not sure how plausable this is but it'd seem like that way everyone's happy.
You know something, I might like that idea. I know alot of even non-enthusiats that would go crazy for a car like that again. Yes alot of people do think V6/FWD is good, but there are alot that think it is absolute **** also.

No, but it does run without cats (all cars sold there don't have them).

One thing that amazes me about these GM cars that are sold abroad is that you get a lot of people here bellyaching that "these should be over here... GM sucks, we get crap, blah blah blah..." (Like IZ28) then, they go ahead and bring one over.... (GTO!) and those very people (like IZ28) do a 180* and bitch and complain about them...

Because it's not done right. And apparently most people and GM agree with me because they are adding all the stuff I thought should be on the car for the 05 model. Then it will be made here a few years later. I don't like that the 04 will not have the stuff but if they're fixing it, then at least that's an improvement.

I've been saying this for months, but it's great to see someone else bringing the point home even better than I could have!!

Here is another mid-east car. What do you think about its nice 88hp 1.4L engine.

Ahh, I see. So, the only GM brand that's been able to make money building cars in rear-drive in the last decade doesn't know what it's doing?
What worries Australia is that the only reason Holden's been allowed to be successful is that, because it's smaller, it's largely been forgotten while GM concentrated on bigger problems. Left to its own devices, it's flourished and built some strong, fast cars via ingenious solutions and short cuts.
Do you really thing the future of a successful rear-drive, car-building franchise should be taken over by the people who systematically destroyed their own ability to build such cars?
Why give GM US the opportunity to ruin another model range when Count Lutzy likes them just as they are?

The GM now is not the same GM as before that created all those boring cars that we have now and have for a few more years. And I never said they don't know what they're doing, we like our cars more aggressive here and would like it to be more GTO-like if it's going to be called that.
