I mean really, like Bob pointed out, what does this mean for the truck line? Compared to other trucks they seem to get good gas milege. Compared to all vehicles not so much. Does it become beaurocracy semantics everyone tries to work around? Im glad GM was saved, but I hope the Govt gets cut out ASAP but its seeming more and more hard to see anytime soon.

On another note, on the surface it would seem the sold brands or bad GM seems to be win win. Sell lesser brands while shedding the debt. But who would buy them and why? TATA motors possibly. Chery or another Chinese brand posibly as well as it would give them an in roads to the US market. How ironic would it be if one of the "Bad" GM became an entire line of rebranded dirt cheap Chineese cars that any current brand foreign or domestic would have a hard time competing with.

But then again, money is "green".
I doubt they'd use him. He's already spoken for, remember.

I don't think it will matter, though as I think this will turn out to be BS. Would be a huge waste of money on all of the signage.

Or by keeping the GM name. Your average Marketing 101 student could do a better job than anyone at GM. Marketing is one of old GMs weaknesses*

They need to strip all of the GM badges off the exterior of the cars first. Then they need to do away with "GM ads" featuring all of the brands. Leave any mention of the parent company to the fine print or under the hood.

Yuk. Gosh damn it, leave the damn thing blue!

I agree, NO MORE "GM" crap. Everyone associates "GM" with bankruptcy, but do they really associate Chevy, Buick, and Caddy as going bankrupt? Oddly, most people don't seem too... it's all associated with GM. Weird, huh? Take the GM badges off the cars (hey, that will save $$$) and market each brand ALONE and accordingly. Chevy-entry level, Buick/GMC-mid level, Caddy-Luxury.

I said yesterday that the story was BS and Fritz confirmed this in the press conference this morning. He also just reiterated it minutes ago:

From the Live Chat at http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/

Can you discuss the issue of changing the logo? May I suggest that if it does need to be changed that a green-themed logo only be used in the context of hybrid and EV vehicles.

Fritz Henderson: candidly, gm is a big place and there are many ideas explored from time to time, but not this one (at least from my or bob lutz' perspective).
