GM to invest $500 Million in ECOtecs
#17
Hopefully - GM will take what they've learned from their DOHC V6(specifically the LLT) program and apply it to the next gen ECOtecs. That way they can increase fuel ecomony and horsepower at the same time.
Just a image getting about 80-86hp per liter & a 8-10% increase in fuel economy, for naturally asparated ECOtecs. That would be pretty good.

It would be hard for the Ecotec to become this generation's SBC when the Gen IV SBC is already this generations SBC
That said, the Ecotec line is a pretty assortment of engines. If only Pontiac was still around to take advantage of LNF.

The bulk of the $494 million investment being announced today will occur at GM’s Tonawanda, N.Y., engine plant to add capacity for the next generation Ecotec engine. It will bring about 470 jobs, GM said.

I use that from time to time. You tell someone who is not into cars that the new Camaro has an LS3..they will look at you bewildered. But say it's the Corvette motor..they instantly understand it is fast.

I did take it to the CTS-V Challenge in Monticello, NY, and grabbed mid 30's with it.
The trans seems to be a bit odd at times. Sometimes it shifts fine, then it will be a little confused on what to do.
