GM going to do something right for a change?
Re: GM going to do something right for a change?
0-60 in less than 6 seconds, for a Trailblazer? Holy Crapola. That's insane! Way to go GM. Glad to see that significant chassis and handling mods are also included, not just the slapping the LS2 engine in there.

Have any of you even SEEN an HHR? It is a fwd compact wagon, sort of like the PT Cruiser (but slightly longer), based on the 'delta' platform (new Cobalt). What would you expect it to have, an LS7? It is fwd, with a 145 hp Ecotec standard, and a 170+ hp ecotec optional. Just for the first year (probably more to come). Remember, the PT had one single engine (2.4L 150hp 4 cyl) for a year or two before the turbo versions came out (in low output ~180 hp and high output ~220 hp form).
The current Impala sells very well, and this updated one is way, way nicer. Wait until you see one in person. It is still fwd because it is an update (a very thorough one) of the current car, and because despite the illusion created by the ugly LX cars from Chrysler, fwd still sells. If there is any doubt on this point, please examine the Accord, Camry, Maxima, 6, Altima, Passat, Taurus, 500, Stratus, Sebring, Grand Prix, G6, etc.
I don't even know why I replied to this, since these topics have already been discussed at length in the 5th Gen/Future Vehicle forum (you guys should check it out for info like this). As for the topic of the original post, the Trailblazer SS, I've driven one, and it is indeed a badass SUV.

Ditto.
Not every car can be and Fbody guys. I guess it takes maturity to realize that - something some people just haven't gotten hold of yet.
If I had to choose a car besides a Fbody, GTO, Corvette etc. I'd rather be in a Impala, Monte Carlo, Malibu, or Cobalt SS before I found myself in a Toyota Avalon or Camry etc.
Re: GM going to do something right for a change?
I like it. Only thing I dont like so far about it is no stick option from what I've seen so far. I'd like to have the 2wd version with a 6speed
Re: GM going to do something right for a change?
why can't they shove that drivetrain into a smaller car?
granted, it'd have to have modifications, but i'd assume most of the heavy engineering work is already done since you have a finished product already.

So nice.
My wife and I are getting an SUV next year and this one is now at the top of the list as long as its not ridiculously priced.

Anyone else notice it'll have "Corvette spec brake pads?" I wonder if that means it has the C6 brake kit, or if the pads are just like the same compound.
Also I thought the air dams at the bottom of the bumper were for cold air on the Silverado SS, are they for something else?

My father recently traded his '02 LS TB for an '05 LT, and both are extremely nice. The '02 had 76k on it and never skipped a beat. The '05 with the interior upgrades that have come along over the years and all the goodies is making him extremely happy. Also, considering the $36,500 window, its even reasonably priced now when you consider he got with a moonroof, leather, On-Star, XM, 6 CD bose, heated seats etc. When you consider my mother's '03 Explorer stickered at $38k with only chrome wheels as an additional feature over the TB, a 2 year newer TB almost seems like a deal now.
As for the rest of the people complaining, what can I say...I like ALL the SS variants. Not EVERYTHING needs to be a V8 RWD car. As I've said several times before, I'm considering a MC SS in 2 years or so and LIKE the fact its still FWD. In snow my GP with snow tires is a beast...I want that for my next daily driver. My fiance likes the look of the new Malibu SS, and plan to look at one later this summer.
Not everything needs to have 350+hp and RWD to be an SS, guys. Most SSs from years gone by didn't come close to that mark anyway! I applaud the SS strategy from Chevy...its about time we got some excitement back.
Leave it to this board to crap on every new, sporty model Chevy has merely because it can't do a smoky donut. Some of you need to look at the bigger picture.

That thing is Sweet! It seems nothing is good enough, Don't it?
