GM: Car prices could jump significantly higher

Not surprising considering what's been going on over the last few years, but it could be a clever sales pitch to clear out inventory.

U.S. automobile prices could rise significantly in the near future because of industry restructuring, rising raw materials and regulatory costs, General Motors Corp.'s chief financial officer said Tuesday.

Inflation was pushing 10% this year (DoL says 6.4%) plus look at how many cars are built in Canada and how much the dollar has fallen against it. Steel prices are also up about ~10% from a year ago.

If I was GM I'd just drop the rebate and let the other automakers raise there prices. What s the point of raising prices when you just know a rebate will follow.
