Post GM-80 info

This corelates nicely with a post a few months ago about the defunct GM80 (what was going to be the 4th gen, FWD V6)

From C&D Feb, 1986.

"Rumoured to become an option on the GM-80 front-drive Camaro/Firebird is an all new Chevy 3.2 V6 from a Stuttgart-based manufacturer of sports cars that shall remain nameless (Porsche??!!!!)

Called our "Shogun engine" by a GM insider, the twin cam 24 valve V6 is said to produce 240hp. The Gm-80's base engine is sadi be yet another remake of the Tech IV (that's better known as the 2.5 Iron Duke (Iron lung?) POS 4cly), this time with counterbalance shafts for added smoothness.

The option list could well include a 2.8L
V6 turbo and a "tweaked" turbo- an intercooled 2.8 that is reportedly producing well over 200hp in teests without emission controls.

There is cool a pic of a Chev Citation (with GM80 sticker) that is a test mule for the running gear of the GM80.

Yikes! Glad that didn't happen! I'd rather have no F-body then a FWD!!!!
