Gen V 5X engine?

What is this engine? Does anybody know anything about it? Maybe a 500+ inch BBC to replace the 8.1L? It will be OHV.

I think they just mean 5.x liters of displacement.

LS3 replacement?

Maybe GM is going back to a smaller displacement on the NG OHV V8?

They did say that with DI added to the Gen V SBC, that they could reduce dipslacement and keep the power of the larger engines, giving even better gas milage results.
Will GM really invest a lot of money into a OHC engine to replace its OHV V8's?
Will this then make 2 OHC lines? The Ultra series, and then the new Gen Vs?
The L92 in the Escalade powertrain mule is a OHV engine though.
Lets not forget that the new 4.5 diesel is a DOHC engine.

In this http://www.futureoftheunion.com/docs...er149pages.pdf It says that the 5X is OHV and the 6.2L will be OHC.

I've been wondering that myself since I haven't seen anything else that matches. If so, then the 400hp estimate that we've seen is probably way off the mark

So Caddy will be getting a 6.X L Ultra/Northstar V8 and will Chevy also be getting a DOHC 6.2L? something doesn't add up, unless this Gen V engine is a 4v OHV or they have some new type of heads or something.

Where'd you hear that the Ultra will get 6.xL of displacement?

Pure speculation, but I'd think 500 or so is more than possible in a performance application.

Isn't that one of the main complaints of the Northstar. Small displacement? Everything I've read about the Ultra talks about larger 5.x and 6.x displacements. has something changed that will keep the Ultra a low displacement platform?
