3 valves, cam phaser, 7,000-8,000 rpm......

I'm probably a little off, but I remember a while ago, someone said the Gen. IV was suppose to be camless?

What's a surprise to me is that they've developed this system for the HV V6.

If we go by the 10-15% power increase...a 3.9 HV V6 should easily put out 250++ hp.

Hows that extra horizontal exhaust pushrod being supported?

Okay, I guess i can give em that..


new oil pump design.. I hope it deson't get stuck in low pressure mode..

New high capacity water pump... if its compatible with the ls1/6 engines, thats good news for the high hp guys..

Hrmmm...6.3L engine will make 500HP...guess that blows the rumors of a 7.0L out the water.

It looks ugly!
Maybe...but have you seen an LS1 lately? That's one ugly engine. They have to put plastic valve covers over it to dress it up some.

Actually a lot of manufacturers are doing this. Covering they're engines with plastic to make the engine bay look classier.

Actually, I was talking about the rocker arrangement.. That extra pushrod and dispaced rocker looks totally out of place... Basically, in my mind I hear both, "Thats ingenious!" and "That looks like a total hack job!"

Looks goofy but if it works.... I'd much ratehr see a variable timing twin cam design than a single cam in the block with 3 valves, one of which connected by two pushrods. Seems to me the extra complexity of this design will be good for the C6 and future Chevy small block users but hard to adapt to for the performance aftermarket. I wonder how this extra vlave will affect swirl and flow characteristics at low rpm. Not to mention the placement of the sparkplug. The ideal spot would be right between the valves.

Yeah, the LS1 is a pretty ugly engine. I was hoping that they could tidy up the GENIV alittle without having to resort to "beauty covers"....but, I guess not.

As far as prettiness/ugliness of an engine...I could care less...if it's making great power and my hood stays shut anyway what difference does it make?
