Gas might be as high as $5.00 by the end of summer if oil stays at $125

effin a!

I think I'd buy the Volt brand freaking new right off the showroom floor now, and I've never bought a new car, and never the first model year of a particular model.

Yes, the price of gas is going up and will continue to do so. A new thread about it everyday is not going to change anything.

The economy is in the crapper.
We're still at war.

It's not a doomsday scenario, but we really can't do anything without feeling the pinch anymore. It's ridiculous and I'm hoping our new elected leader will take swift action.

At $5/gallon, we will see more of the gas/food tradeoff scenario. I think that's what scares me most.
I'm curious to know what our "new elected leader" can do? The only plan of action I've heard from the politicians is raise taxes on the oil companies. Still trying to figure out how that will lower gas prices.

Because it will get you reelected. Don't you know anything about politics?

I remember complaining when it was at $2.70ish in that thread. I think we've all been finally beaten into submission. Truly sad.

It won't. It's just to pacify those who can't stand seeing companies turn large profits.

I'm kind of doubting we'll see $5 this summer. More often than not, gas peaks at Memorial Day and falls steadily after that. Some analysts predict that won't happen though, so who knows.

Good question.

The oil companies will make up for it somehow.

Wanna' guess how?

Yup.

Ironically their stock is up 50¢.
Hmmm, so some speculator/commodity trader type hired the captain from the Exxon Valdez to stir things up...I can see it.

+1, and then take their own lives like the ones who lost it all in the stock market back in 1929.

I bet if I put a gallon of E100 Ethanol in my riding mower I'll get a lot further than if I put a gallon in that horse

ah who cares any more if it 5 buck i probably wont use the waverunner at all this summer. all this is doing is lowering the standard of living in the us.
if we dont hit 5 bucks this year its pretty much a sure thing next summer. an extra 1dollar in gas is like 10 bucks extra a week in gas for me in the cobalt so its not a bank breaker.
