G8 vs. Camaro
The G8 has the thought of selling my GTO much closer to a reality
If the dark grey color pictured below is available, than probably the G8.

If I really wanted a 67-69 Camaro, I would buy a 67-69 Camaro. The new Camaro IS a fantastic looking car, the best of all the retro flavored cars, but I was dissappointed to see a retro themed car. I would have prefered them to forge ahead with the theme and spirit of Camaro only. Deliver a car that may not have looked like the classic, but delivered the same spirit in a totally modern 2+2 coupe design. This is obviously a difficult task. I assume it is much easier to deliver a car that looks very similar to the original and brings warm fuzzies to baby boomers with lots of cash to burn. Then simply cash in on the nostalgia.
It would be a tough choice, I would have to see equipment, options, specs and prices side by side. Right now, I would lean toward the G8. In 3 years, new Camaros will be everywhere, just like 05+ Mustang today. I am inclined to think there will not be as many G8s cruising the streets.

I didn't vote since there was no option for both..... I love the Camaro but realistically, if they were both side by side in the showroom, torn as Iwould be, I'd probably be leaving with the G8 - not that I think I'd be any worse off for it, the VE cars are gorgeous, IMO.
The sedan would win out since my reality includes a wife (who doesn't share my enthusiam for the f-body) and two small children, one of whom needs help getting in and out of our four door cars. Taking on a coupe again is still a few years away.

Well, I'd only consider the G8 "tomorrow" if it had the LS3 in it.
If it doesn't, I'd assume that the 2nd year will have a 420+hp LS3 in it.
Buying the first year w/ the GTO is *nearly* as bad as buying the 2004 LS1 GTO when the 2005 was right around the corner w/ the LS2.
maybe not quite as bad since the mph difference for the 1/4 mile of an A4 LS1 GTO & A4 LS2 GTO is like ~6mph, but it'd kill me if the 2nd year had the new & improved engine and possible diet.
If it has the LS2, it better be making 400hp, not ~360 like the aussie.
If this thing turns 108mph in the 1/4, then it's good in my book. (not that it's all about drag racing, but 108mph, in my head, is a good indicator of how hard it'll pull.

Kind of an odd poll to compare such unlike cars that can offer a consumer to completely different things. But heck, the G8 for the daily driver and the Camaro for the weekend toy. Poll option for both please.
Same layout/chassis, same powertrain, both made by GM, same approximate performance, even similar in price.
I would hardly discount their similarities....if the Camaro was a GTO, then would it be less difficult to grasp?
