G8 Test in MT

Hope this isn't a repost. I've not seen it yet...

G8 GT data and writeup

I loathe Motor Trend, but this is the first mag test I've seen.

0-60 in 5.3
1/4 mile in 13.8 @ 102.8 mph
0.88 g
112 ft 60-0 mph.

This is, of course, for the 361 hp V8 version with the six speed auto. They seem to like it, and mention it as an alternative to the 335i and G37, even though the Pontiac is considerably larger than those two.

It is going to lay waste to the Charger R/T overall.

Edmunds got a better time out of their's, and they hung with a Charger SRT8.

I like the G8 a lot. I didn't think it would run this well. Maybe 14.0 at 100 but this is a pleasant surprise.

They need a Police package!

As heavy as this car is , I cant believe the track times its running . Im with ya man , I thought it'd be more of a 99-101 mph car in the 1/4 , not a 102-105 car .

I'm also a little surprised at the times. Hopefully these aren't ringers built for the magazine tests.

aussie 6 speed auto version with a tune, then an exhaust, and an intake installed.
converting rwkw to rwhp...
base is ~290 rwhp
tune is up to 308 rwhp
exhaust brings it up to 323 rwhp
CAI tops it off at 342 rwhp.

these engines are basically LS3s with a smaller bore. they are going to respond VERY well to little mods. 50 rwhp from intake, exhaust, and a tune is fantastic. that will bring those 103-104 mph traps to 106-107 mph traps.

True, but I wonder how difficult it would be to do under the new SAE ratings procedures.

They could simply detune them slightly for the street, which might help mpg and reliability.
Reprogrammers seem to find 20 or 30hp all the time.
