It says that the G6 will have a 4 cyl. and 2 different V6's.

Didn't Pontiac announce several months ago that G6 would be V6 only?

 

Indeed they did...

Maybe they figured out that wasn't the most brilliant idea in the world Sure, they want to move the car upscale, but if the public can't afford it, who the hell cares? Your average Pontiac buyer likes a $20,000 car...so they should make one. With an economical 4 banger...

Oh yeah, call it Grand Am too, like you did for the last 18 consecutive years I like Lutz, but that was a bonehead move if I ever saw one...

 

It also says that the Grand Am GT will continue in production thru 2005.

 

looks promising, but I'd have to agree, dropping the Grand Am name and going to "G6" wich is sort of anonymous, is kinda on the "WTF?" side of it.

 

convertible??i say bravo!!!the more vert choices the better,i'm surprised there's not more choices,it's either sebring,solara or mustang if you want a 4-seat convertible,oh yeah,and eclipse...ummmm..okay,and the beetle,and PT cruiser and upcoming mini....okay,so there's quite alot to chose from....okay,i'm surprised there's not more american choices.hey,pontiac,just keep it from having that rental car-vibe like the sebring and V6 mustang verts!!hey,where's the GTO vert??we need more muscle car convertibles!

 

Looks like it will look just just like the concept G6 but with a better grill than the concept.

My guesses for the engines

170HP 2.4L Ecotec I4
240HP 3.9L V6
285HP S/C 3.5L V6


I also thought that the "6" is G6 stood for V6

 

ya i thought the 6 designated a V6, would the I4 be the G4?

 

As GM discovered in the Malibu, a DOHC 4 cylinder is not necessarily cheaper, lighter, nor much more fuel efficient than an OHV V6. That's why they dropped the 4 banger altogether a couple of years ago. I don't suspect the equation will change that much with the Ecotec and HV V6s.
