It will be interesting to see how well it sells.

To me, it will be "GM's Chrysler Sebring Convertible"... but with presumably higher all-weather comfort due to the hardtop over a softtop.

Base price? I hope that comes pretty well loaded up with standard features (which it probably does).

I know they aren't meant to compete but I'd rather have the Saturn Sky Redline for less money except maybe for the fact that the G6 is going to be a hard top which is really cool for its price range.

I checked Sebring Convertible's base price... it's $26,xxx....

So, the G6 is about $2k more in MSRP.

But, you get the hardtop over a softtop... I didn't really look into an apples to apples standard equipment comparison.....

That is exactly how I look at it. There aren't many players in the true 4 seat convertible market (not 2+2 like the Mustang, Eclipse, etc.). The Sebring pretty much owns that market, and Toyota also sells the (supposely limp noodle) Solara as well. The G6 will slot right in, with an actual, hospitable back seat. The folding hardtop will give it something unique in the market. I also happen to think the hardtop convertible looks better than the coupe version, as it has more of a separate greenhouse/trunk look in profile. The G6 coupe's extremely raked rear window is less satisfying to me, at least in profile.

$28k is a little high, but not horrible like I feared (especially if it comes mostly loaded). I was worried that they'd take the fact that the hardtop is expensive AND a class-exclusive feature and price the thing way too high.

EDIT: After seeing Darth's post about the Sebring starting at $26k, the $28k doesn't look too bad at all. I checked Toyota's site, and the Solara starts at $27k in SE trim, and $30k in the more loaded SLE trim. Unless the G6 is a stripper at $28, it sounds like it is priced about right, especially since it offers the hardtop.

It sounds right in line with the others. Eclipes starts at ~$26K with the GTS model at ~$30K

But unlike all the other, the G6 has that hard top, which in the North East will be huge.
