Ford's new Mustang V6 Performance Package

The V6 is about as quick as the old 5.0 Mustangs anyway (let quicker than most ricers whose cars are plastered with stickers), so why not?

Spied: 2009 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang V6 Performance Package

Following on the heels of spy shots of the 2009 45th Anniversary Mustang GT, our spy photographers have spotted the 45th Anniversary edition of the sportier, V6 Performance Package car. The 2009 model will have a few special features to set it apart from its brethren — most notable is a glass roof.

The Performance Package model should see at least a few changes for the 2009 model, including a new racing stripe package and possibly a larger hood scoop (although it's difficult to tell from the pictures), updated wheels and a revised front fascia. It also appears the car's grille will have a few less horizontal slats.

Ford recently previewed the car by releasing photos of the special '45th Anniversary' badge that adorns the 'Stang. It is expected to arrive at dealerships in the next two months.

It's not known if the car will feature any special interior treatments.

We will see more and more "performance packages" on something other than a V8 land missile.

I think we will also see more people start the weigh carving process, and start looking at the handling of the car too. I personally get just as much of a rush out of pushing a car to it's limits in a curve as I do do holding the gas pedal to the floor for 13 seconds.

Looks like they ripped off all of the Shelby GT cosmetics.

It's late, I went out and had a few MGDs, I'm on the internet at 3:30am and have to get back up at 8.

You're going to have to walk me through this one because I don't get it.

It doesn't happen often, so be gentle.

So does this mean that we are back to the stripes, decals, and scoops era where performance upgrades are not preferred?

If GM has any sense then there will be a performance package or two available for the V6 Camaro. I mean real performance stuff, not like chrome exhaust tip + some stripes. Suspension, brakes, maybe some intake and exhaust stuff. Forced induction via dealer installed packages would be nice too.

Ford does offer handling and a power upgrades for the V6 and both can be dealer installed with a warranty.
