Re: Ford testing Corvette???

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Shelby Cobra GT500 will be priced more in line with, and perform more in line with the C6 than anything.

I'd still MUCH rather have the C6, even if the Shelby can out accelerate the non-Z06 model (which I suspect may be the case, though not by much).

Talk about sticking your dick in a pencil sharpener, what person at ford was farting that?

I love mustangs but a corvette beater it aint.

Besides, the vette is benchmark vehicle, no other car on the planet equals its price to performance ratio and thats what you have to beat, not the freak'n bench racing numbers.

Besides thats what I want to see from Ford, another 150 to 250k vehicle that can beat the vette.

OKAY FORD (IF YOU ARE LURKING HERE), GET A CLUE! YOU DONT NEED ANOTHER MEGA DOLLAR SUPER CAR, WHAT YOU NEED IS A MASS MARKET SPORTS CAR. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BEAT THE VETTE, IT JUST NEEDS TO RIVAL THE VETTE.

Not even, since there is no current cobra, that can only mean the Fox4 cars and that takes some big cojones to compare to the vette since the last (god rest its soul) mustang is essentially an optimized 1979 ford fairmont. The vette just has an edge that the mustang will never have, and let me add thats because the mustang has to cover alot of mustang market, it has to be an affordable v6 grocery getter all the way up to a killer bang for the buck high performance pony car. Where as the vette has only one mission, be the best damn american sports car at the best damn price bar none.

Hey man I'm just saying you're yelling at ford to get a clue when they have a 440horse mustang cobra in the works for under forty grand that probably (at the very least) beat the c6 in a straight line (very doubtful in the corners imo.) Personally, I hope they continue to make supercars, plus the fact I like all mid engine cars from the nsx to the koenigsegg. Even if the new cobra/gr-1 isn't mid engine it's still something that turns me into a ten year old kid when I see them.

Shotgun, there is more to cars than just straight line performance. Anyone can make any car go fast in a straight line.

You can also safely bet your home that GM has been running the wheels off the new Ford Mustang and Chrysler LX cars as well.

I guess that "learning how to do things" goes both ways?

Yup and as far as pony cars go (well despite the inevitable dealer market adjustment charge ) its a helluva deal and the best mustang ever, my beef with Ford is (especially since they are garaging a vette) why can't they build a 50 to 70k sports car. Why build 1500 mega buck sports cars that you can only gaze at in a magazine and thump your chest about it. What have you proven or accomplished (beyond a really nice super car).
