Ford Shelby GT tested by Car & Driver
13.7 @ 104  Can't wait to DRAG one down the highway hahaha. Just wanted to share, good thing I was on the toilet when I read this cause I laughed so hard I S#*T myself. That is all.

and all with a pricetag of $38,970 :eek:
i thought the audi TT was supposed to be a expensive car, but it was $500 cheaper than the mustang... |
I love how in the same comparison test the new 350Z runs the exact same 13.7 @104, uses considerably less gas, and costs 10,000 dollars less. WTF is Ford thinking... Sad thing is the Camaro used to own the comparison test in this field, but looks like soon enough we will be back in the running.

I think they got a better time out of a regular GT.
|
I'm not too surprised by the time. Maybe knock .2 seconds off for typical magazine driving but the trap speed is a good teller no matter who's driving, and 104 isn't overly impressive.
|
Dont they have some kind of tuning to limit power for the first few thousand miles?
|
I didn't know there was a Shelby GT. So this is just a hopped up regular Mustang GT?
It does seem pricey. Dan |

Its a 3valve 4.6 liter. It didn't say what the Shelby version has over a stock GT but it did say that you can buy the upgrade parts seperately for a mere 2,600 bucks. Over 2 grand to go slower than a stock GT. I wonder if people are stupid enough to really pay that much for that stuff just in order to call their car a Shelby. Oh well

Where've you been? No, it's on a different, very heavy chassis, different engine.
Are you thinking of the Shelby GT500? The Shelby GT is a "tuned" Mustang GT, as I understand it. In fact, I think it is effectively the same basic deal as the Hertz Shelby Mustang. The GT500 is definitely heavy, but it runs much harder than 13.7 @ 104 mph. |
It's got a cai, tune, x-pipe and 3.55 gears. It's still got the crappy torque management though.
|
I'll take my Daytona Shelby anyday over this steaming pile of $hit
|
wow,I sure as heck spotted a few ignorant mustang haters here. The shelby GT is not a shelby GT500.Its just a mustang GT with a CAI and slightly better tune than stock to compensate for the bigger MAF tube.It also has a handling pack from FRPP.It weighs about the same as a GT.Your paying for the Shelby name.Im sure its a fine car in its own right.

In that comparison test, the 350Z should've won hands down. It was fastest around the road course, .1 second behind the Mustang 0-60, and tied the Mustang's ET. They picked the RX-8, the slowest car out of all four (by 1.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile!) as the winner. I think that C&D has finally lost their minds.
