Ford running out of Mustangs.

Ford will run out of Mustangs to sell, before the '05's come out. Mustang sales are up 16% for '04.

EDIT: Oops, just noticed this story is a couple of months old.....but interesting nontheless. Now what's all this about no sporty coupe market?

North of $30,000 there are a million coupes to choose from. South of $30,000 there aren't many REAL performance coupes to choose from. Mustang doesn't really have a lot of direct competition.

Re: Ford running out of Mustangs.

I find it kind of odd that when the article came out, people had seen the new Mustang for 2005 and sales of the old model were still up.

Well, $3000 cash back (now $2500) really helped the sales. When you can pick up a loaded 2004 GT with leather and auto tranny for $15995...

I haven't seen them that low, but i haven't been to the dealership in a long time. 16g's for a loaded GT is damn good . No wonder their flying off the lots.

Joe Meyers Ford - Houston Texas

That was months ago though and I was there in person to see it. Heck, I seriously thought about buying it. I don't think you'll find deals like that again anytime soon.

That is 8000-9000 off MSRP!!

I remember about 2 years ago GT adverstisements for 24,000 -25,000 CDN, whereas MSRP was 31500, or something like it. That was by one dealership and was for a very short period of time. They were NOT loaded GTs (no leather and no automatic). With current exchange rate that was around 17750 USD, perhaps with the old one it was more like 16,000. It made me think, too, what a great deal it was.

For the price of a well equipped Cavalier......I'd much rather have a Mustang GT.

This stuff about a $16k auto/leather Stang GT is hooey. edmunds.com says you're looking at $21,500 street price.

Re: Ford running out of Mustangs.

Guy came into work with a band new 04 Mustang GT with leather and a few other things. He said it was fully loaded he got it for 21k. He says hes had more problems with it and that he wanted an RSX-S, but its too small. He said for the price, he couldnt beat it and he wanted something sporty. He wants to go back to Honda/Acura and get a TSX.

Did you not see what I typed? Apparently not. I never said anything about Edmunds. Please take a reading comprehension class.

Never seen anything like that, but I know you could get well equpted GTs in the $20-22,000 range with discounts.

With 1/4 or so fewer dealers than Chevrolet, each Ford dealer was selling more Mustangs than each Chevrolet dealer was selling Cavaliers. Most certainly qualifies as flying off the shelves.
