Ford Performance sedan
Ford Performance sedan
Any plans to produce any?
After seeing a few Torinos (Starsky/Hutch car) for sale online, and seeing the new Charger ad, I was wondering about Ford.
I'm wondering if they'll produce anything for 07/08, when I plan to buy my next car.

Re: Ford Performance sedan
SVT has a performance Fusion on the way.
There's also performance version of the Lincoln LS still in limbo, and ther is the idea going around of a performance Five Hundred.
But once SVT finishes with the Mustang and the next Explorer, Fusion is up.

Re: Ford Performance sedan
I forgot myself, but:
google.com ---> http://www.fordvehicles.com/futurevehicles/2006fusion/
I'll probably get a Chrysler/Dodge anyways.

Re: Ford Performance sedan
Surprisingly, i like the 500 too. It seems like a really nice car. But my biggest gripe with it is powertrain.
If the refresh is good, and the 3.5L is introduced as a base engine with the Volvo/Yamaha v8 offered as an option, they'd have a nice car on hand.
If we ever see an SVT 500, i think it'll have the 315hp Volvo 4.4 v8.
As for the SVT fusion, i'm looking forward to it.

Re: Ford Performance sedan
I've been checking Ford Five Hundreds everytime I see one, and about 80%+ of them on the street in Albany NY are AWD. This might be Ford hook for getting people into one of these over a Chevy, Honda, or Toyota. I wish the '06 Impala and the Pontiac G6 offered AWD options. GM already has the versatrak AWD 3.5/3.9L Combo hardware in the CSV's.
Re: Ford Performance sedan
AWD is very nice of you live in the areas that suit them. That would be mostly northren urban areas. Where the roads are treated and plowed but not completely cleared. In the more rural area's they are not much good. That does not stop the people that buy them from getting stuck and sliding off the road in those areas. They dont seem to understand they dont have a 4x4 with clearance. They get caught up in those Subaru promo's and dont understand why they can go through more then 4.5 inches of snow.
Re: Ford Performance sedan
I live in the Rural Areas of Indiana and know how the snow problem is. I have a 4x4 Truck if it's real bad and I need to get out, but AWD or not your not going to get anywhere in a car if its bad.
I am impressed with my "company" 2000 Venture. FWD it grips alot better then my old RWD S10 and does pretty well. I just wouldn't pay the extra for AWD because FWD is so good in the snow. And some indication of "being slick" is a good thing, point: my friends that also have 4x4 trucks can take off like mad - but they can't stop any faster then my FWD van...
I honestly think this RWD craze won't last long. I love RWD for performance vehicles, but LOVE FWD for winter driving. I forsee alot of people trading in RWD vehicles that live in areas that see any snow at all as soon as wife/kids/or even dad kicks the backend out and almost wrecks their new RWD car...
