My dad used to own one, a Ford Capri that is, in the 70's and he was so proud of it. I was too young then to be passionate about it.

Apart from the "Mercury Capri", I've always seen Capris as "FORD" in Australia and some asian countries.

Here in the states, it has been a Mercury for as long as you and I can recall.
A guy in his 70's might have a disagreement with you though. Here is a link to some 1954 LINCOLN Capris !!
There were very few sold, but they did/do exist!
Otherwise Darth, you are correct, they have all been sold in the US under the Mercury moniker, whether imported from Europe, Oz, or made right here in the Rouge River Michigan plant.

Is that one like the world's only surviving example!!

I admit I never have heard of that car before.
Thanks for the info! That'll be my new knowledge nugget for the day!

Good links Proudpony. Seems the Capri name has been on every type of vehicle except a tank.

Did you see where the '50-'51 model Lincoln Cosmopolitan-Capri used a GM HydraMatic tranny - STOCK!?!?!
