First Shots of 2007 Silverado Interior!
Re: First Shots of 2007 Silverado Interior!
Hard to tell but doesn't look nearly as nice as the new SUV interiors. I'm actually very surprised to see that they don't share their basic interior design anymore.
The new GMT-900 interiors seem best in class right now... this new Silverado interior doesn't see bad, per se, but definitely doesn't really excite me nearly as much either. Why go to the effort in making it different if you're going to make it cheaper looking? Unless of course there really is a significant difference in cost to produce the two different dashboard designs?
To me it looks like the designers of the soon to be revamped Caddy CTS interior got petitioned to make a truck dash.

Little bits here and there to jazz things up a bit... but when looking at things from that distance, I doubt a whole lot would appear different in terms of the basic shape and plastics.
I agree with the person who said this looks like a big Chevy Colorado interior.

I like it!! Its basic, as a basic truck should be. I know a lot of truck people that do not like a floor mounted shifter. Interior looks clean, even for a preproduction truck. I think without all the testing equipment on it, it will look cleaner.
I LOVE the big a** chrome rimmed gauges!! That looks GREAT!!
What I dont like is the door handle somehow found itself back on the lower part of the door. WHY!! They fixed it for the SUV's, you would think that it would be the same set up, no?

This isn't the best picture to draw judgement from by any stretch.
You also need to consilder this is the interior that likely will need to accomidate a VERY wide range of enviroments, from a work truck with thick-gloved hands operating the controls to the top-of-the-line truck catering to polished shoes and manucured fingers. That's a range the SUV don't need to cover.

Thats about what I thought too.. The layout reminds me alot of the 800 trucks.. Which was a good layout and highly functional.. Its just the materials and such were cheap.
Although I wonder which interior the new Av would get... I'm guessing the SUV type, since its closer related to the Suv's..

That means I'm making some presumptions.
Kinda like when your friend with poor eyesite points out a girl from a distance and you call it like "you're crazy, she's a cow".
Sometimes you call it right, sometimes you don't - but that's the fun in it. You don't have to walk around on eggshells by inserting a bunch of prequalifications for your judgement from a distance. You just go for it and see, 10 seconds later, if you were right. Except in this case the wait will be more than 10 seconds. We'll have to see what it looks up close later.
