First question in Challenger survey on Dodge.com.

Important Note: We are seeking consumer opinions for further evaluation of the future of the Dodge Challenger Concept Car. Options and prices shown are directional only.
Which Powertrain configuration would you most likely purchase in your new Dodge Challenger from the four options below:
250 Horsepower V6 with 6-Speed Manual
350 Horsepower V8 Hemi with 6-Speed Manual at + $2,200 over base V6 Manual
425 Horsepower V8 Hemi with 6-Speed Manual at + $3,000 over base V6 Manual
I prefer Automatic Transmission

425 horse with the 6-speed. If it would really only be $3000 over the cost of the v6, that would be pretty sweet, and I am not a huge Challenger lover. I have to wonder how much the base v6 pricing is though.

Interesting...I couldn't find the link for that page though. Could you post it?

425HP for $3,000 would be very nice. The difference between the 4th gen Z28 and SS was about $3000 wasn't it?

I would be amazed if anyone wouldn't pay an extra $800 for the 425 HP V8. That's the cheapest 75 HP you'll find anywhere.

Go on Dodge.com., search 'Challenger' and you'll see button to take the survey.

Re: First question in Challenger survey on Dodge.com.

Just for the heck of it, eventhough these numbers don't mean much...

If a base 3.5 V6 Charger with 5 speed auto goes for $22,995, is it fair to assume that a 3.5 V6 Challenger with 6 speed manual would be priced at no more?

So, a 5.7 Hemi and 6 speed manual Challenger could go for $25,200?

That seems to be what they're implying, however I'm sure they'll also throw in a heap of standard equipment as well. Also, is the 3.5 V6 the base for the charger? Doesn't it also have a mid-level V6? Maybe they're talking about a 3k premium over the mid-level model.

Re: First question in Challenger survey on Dodge.com.

Didn't they say somewhere along the line that it was gonna cost $40,000. $25,000 for a 425hp Challenger seems WWAAAAAAY too cheap.

But yeah, 75 hp for $800 dollars. Let me think about thatyes.

Re: First question in Challenger survey on Dodge.com.

Here's an interesting post by georgejetson on Allpar:

I've done a lot of marketing polling. To me, the point of this one is VERY clear: they are trying to decide whether they need to offer a manual on Challenger or not. All of the other stuff is just misdirection, or at least hypothetical -- you cannot conclude anything about pricing, etc., from it.

The fact that they are having BBDO Detroit run a poll on this means they haven't decided whether they need to do it, and they are trying to talk themselves out of it (almost surely for cost reasons). It's idiotic, if you ask me, but maybe they figure they'll lose hardcore performance drivers to the competition anyway.

I don't ever recall ever reading anything from Dodge about the 425hp Challenger costing $40,000. I remember reading they might try to release the 425hp model as a high $20k/low $30k, but whether that will be a reality or not remains to be seen.

I have been thinking about it, and 425hp might be alot for a high $20k car, but with the weight the Challenger has to pull around, in reality it might be around the same or slightly faster than the 4th gen LS1s, depending on how much power it really puts out. It may hit high 12s off of the showroom floor, but in this day and age of performance, I don't think it is going to be obscenely fast at this power level, simply due to its excessive girth. Seems to me that Dodge could release the 425hp car at this pricepoint, and advertise their car as having more hp than the midlevel Camaro or Mustang, regardless of the actual power to weight ratio. HP sells.

I agree with george, I think the real data they are mining is contained right here: "If a 6-Speed Manual Powertrain is not offered would you still purchase a Challenger?"

This survey definitely seems geared towards finding out what transmission option you are interested in.

Re: First question in Challenger survey on Dodge.com.

I agree. Price means nothing. They're trying to figure out the importance of a manual in this. It would seem like a no-brainer to me, then again what do I know...the other LX cars haven't suffered too much because of it.

A $25,000 Challenger with the 425 HP 6.1 Hemi is a pipe-dream. At that price, paying up to $15,000 more for another SRT LX car would be assinine.

If that is what they are looking for, then my answer is no. If Dodge wants to do this right, they better find a manual from somewhere to stick in this car.

Hopefully if the give a manual option for the Challenger, it won't be long before we see one for the Charger.
