First Cobra off the production line...
First Cobra off the production line...
The first Cobra rolled off the production line this morning. The person that purchased it paid $600k for it. The car will sell for $42k. It has 465 HP.
Got this word from our guys at Ford this morning.
Though you dudes would be interested.

Also, if the guy paid $600,000 for it (doubtful, but possible) that means the dealer, not Ford made a $560,000 profit.
Re: First Cobra off the production line...
I work for a company that works closely with Ford, and the email came from a Ford employee in the Detroit/Deerborn area. Maybe he has his figures mixed up. I dunno.
But that's the information he gave me.

This info is off. Production of the GT500 started 06/06/06 and the first ones rolled off the line weeks ago. You can go to www.stangsunleashed.com and see pics and video of them stting and driving with window stickers. They're supposed to ship out on Monday. Maybe the 1st one was delivered today?

I was gonna say. I toured the Auto Alliance International Plant on the 9th of this month. I saw first-hand the Shelbys being driven off the line
Re: First Cobra off the production line...
I believe that the info was wrong. I was reading in a magazine today that one of the Preproduction mules was auctioned off, the winner paid $648k for it and the money went to Caroll Shelby's children's charity.
So I think he was mistaken. He had to be. I know the lead time on magazines is crazy, so he's GOT to be wrong.
