I'm placing this poll here on the 5th-gen and future vehicles section because I think it's the best place for Firebird enthusiasts to see it. Considering there's a GTO only section on this website, I feel there should be a Firebird section as well. This way, us Firebird enthusiasts can have a place to meet and talk Firebird. What do you gus think?

 

Of course I'd have to agree with such a thing. A little section where the Firebird fans and those who like both can talk would be rather nice.

I voted yes. I mean there's a GTO section. C6 section is probably next! I really don't think it any of them are a necessity though, at all. (the GTO board gets almost no use as it is)

 

That's cool. The only reason I'm asking is to get a place where us Firebird enthusiasts can go to talk Firebird specific issues. Also, just a place to get away from all the pro-Camaro stuff.

I say no, because they share sooooo many parts together. It would become redundant and scattered, IMO. The GTO is a completely different car: would use different headers, suspension, intake, etc.

 

Um, doesn't the GTO share the same LS1 as the F-bodies do? So wouldn't all the engine mods be the same? Suspension, no, but engine yes I would believe.

at least GTO is brand new and having it's own chassis it'll have it's own problems worth talking about. Firebird is gone (please don't start on why/whether it should come back), anything Firebird related worth talking about has already been covered on these boards ad nauseum...

 

Yeah, maybe they're right. Are there no Firebird sites out there that talk about how they'd like a 5th Gen to be or that argue the case for it?

 

Morbid, IZ28: All I'm really looking for is a section where registered members here can talk Firebird. For the most part we already "know" each other and it would be easier this way. Also, other than a bit more upkeep with the new section, anybody who doesn't want to look at it doesn't have to. Just choose not to click to go there.

 

THis is rather idiotic. The WHOLE SITE is a Camaro AND Firebird site. THe GTO has a forum to itself because it has its own unique chassis, etc. etc. and so far its only been out 1 year.

YOu're wanting 1 forum to lump together 35 years of firebirds, cars that have more in common technically with their Camaro generation mates than from other firebirds from other generations?

Why not just start firebirdtransam.com and try to lure half of the members from here over there if you think its that critical?

I'm sorry to be a jerk but there are stupid posts then there is this post. Out of 46,000 members here probably 40% have Firebirds....

How is this site not already meeting the needs of FIrebird owners? I know it does so for me.

 

If there is, I don't know about it. The closest thing to a Firebird site is TransAMGTA, but they only seem to care about third gens.

 

Firebird is mechanically the same thing as a camaro, theres no need for a seperate section....Dont turn this place into another LS1.com....GTO has a revised LS1(and will have a different engine next year) and is a completely different car hence the section

 

I will cast a YES only if there will be a VOLGA section.


<serious> I think this has the danger of becoming information overload. Too many choices, too many categories, and try to find some good information will either require reading A LOT of stuff and filtering a lot of junk out, or not being able to find that info at all. I only read 5th Gen forum here because it has plenty of great information on many cars, but split it into too many categories and this forum may lose its precious content.
