No diesel option for the Tahoe is f*ckin' stupid. It's offered with the 4L80E in the G-vans (albeit with reduced power), so the no-package situation with the Allison 1000 is no excuse.
If the hybrid is the new dual-mode technology, I'll be very excited to see how well it works. With the prices I saw at the pump today, this could be a real life-saver for GM.

I've never seen you this worked up before. If it wasn't you who said that it wouldn't be so funny, you usually say something like "I don't believe the lack of a diesel option is a very clever move on GM's part," or something like that...but this time you're just like "this is f'n stupid!" I just thought that was funny......sorry...

I'm pretty sure that was never in GM's SUV's

GM is working on a new family of "V" engines that is much like the "VX" engine they previewed a couple of years ago. This engine was supposed to debut at Cadillac by mid decade.
If true, this would explain why Caddy didn't go with a V10.

I've always thought of the Avalanche as a truck. I'm just talking about the basic GM SUVs built in Arlington. I'm 99% sure they never used the 8.1L.
Again I'm just talking about the 900s that will be built here in Arlington. Only the short frame SUVS. Sorry I wasn’t specific enough with my first comment.

I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see a truck version of the LS7 as well, since there's always been crossovers between GM's performance and truck operations. Add in the possibility of a N* replacement, and it's clear to see that if GM has a problem with the GMT900, it won't be due to a lack of engine options.
