would have been more interesting if they put them through a roadcourse.. I'd bet it would shift to the compacts, with the Cobalt near or at the very top.

GM and Toyota both have 3 each in the top ten.

I dont know how much lbs per peak HP really means. Its all about area under the curve.

GM: 1, 3, & 5.

Toyota: 7,8, 10.

That list is kinda meaningless though, there's a lot more to consider than hp per lb, like transmission and axles ratios for starters....

Does this correlate to 1/4 mile times though. (I know it should)

Gearing, powerband, and RPM limit have a LOT to do with the real 1/4 mile results!

I do like how GM stack way up there, in general though.

It's amazing that the Monte Carlo is rated higher in power than the LT1, and fairly close to the LS1 f-body in HP/TQ at a similar weight!

Chevy dealer in Tolleson Arizona had a brand new, slightly used 2006 Monte Carlo SS going for $18,000.

Knowing these thing's burnouts make my old 5.0 Mustang look lame and MC SS runs 155 mph, I have to admit... I actually gave it some very serious thought.

The LS4 is representing GM well.

I haven't looked it up to confirm... but is the 500/Taurus really only 3643 pounds?

I looked around, and that number is listed on a few websites. Also, Edmunds has the 2007 500 (FWD) at 3649 lbs.

I'm shocked that a Ford Five Hundred weighs less than a GTO.

Not surprising when the only FWD V8s are by GM.
