F5 colors ??
F5 colors ??
What is reasonable to expect for a color pallet these days ??
...on the new C-car.
I have never really been sold on the 4th gen colors...especially the LS1 ones. Always seemed like the Camaro got the leftovers from the paint booth..or at least were ordered that way even when a few interesting colors were avalible.
Of note is the fact that between 98-99 you could get a gold, a purple and a nice medium blue as well as the classic orange...all these are very rare. I know dealers tend to order red, black and white but a better selection on the lot would be nice (a selection of cars would be good as well).
You could get one of like 22 colors in 1969 but I know that is gonna be out...so what is reasonable now? The GTO seems to have a very nice range...can we expect something similar then ?
I'd like to see the following:
1. Black
2. Red
3. Hugger Orange
4. Yellow
5. White
6. Silver (metallic)
7. Bright blue (IROC color)
8. Dark Blue (metallic)
9. Dark Green (british racing)
10. Dark grey (metallic)

Subsitute "black" or "dark blue" for "red" and you have my sentiments.

How about this?

I think its totally feasible to have that many colors, after dropping deepwater blue and Royal Plum. (DW Blue is a favorite of mine, but Id bet a bunch that it'd get axed by the beancounters for being too similar to black, same with royal plum) And while the old standbys are there (Red, black, white) it also has some colors that are trendy today.
I mean, obviously not the EXACT same colors. But thats a damn good starting place.

What no GOLD!?!?!
Seriously though.... if Hugger Orange is offered, I'm going to have a hard time picking any other color.
However, other possibilities are red (wife's favorite color), black, silver and blue metallic (my favorite color).

FWIW, most of those shades are way off.

However, the way I drive and the fact that some police don't recognize professional courtesy regarding my employer, I need to have as dark a car or inconspicuous a color as possible.

BTW, for those of you wondering, studies have shown light to medium "gunmetal" grey is the least noticed color if you need to keep a low profile in the daytime (especially cloudy days). Unfortunately, that also means other drivers tend to miss seeing you too. The only substantial accident I ever had was in heavy traffic in my grey '85 5.0 Stang, and a truck decided to come into my lane and ripped up my door and fender before he stopped (those nice big truck wheel bolts).
Just in case anyone is interested....

If they don't do Hugger Orange, 68 Corvette Bronze might be a nice substitute.
