You try not to race yourself. Keep in mind that GM holds a fair sized piece of Subaru.

Audi still spent far more than Cadillac at LeMans (2-3 times more, if memory serves). Remember that GM was splitting its money between two marques, and since Corvette was actually winning, it made more sense to cut Cadillac if one of them had to go.

As to rally racing, I'd love to see GM do it as well, though it won't get much play in North America. And despite GM's 20% ownership, Subaru really isn't considered a GM brand.

When GM has control of using Subaru's Impreza chassis and direct it to the other side of the globe for Saab....Subaru is part of GM.
I think that Opel or Vaux should get into rally racing.

True. Even Ferrari with all their money and pull didn't accomplish it until after they hired Michael Schumacher.

GM directed the Corolla and then Matrix over as Geo's (then Chevy's) and Pontiacs respectively, and that didn't mean that Toyota was part of GM.

If GM did manage to aquire Cosworth, than they need to make a Cobalt Cosworth turbo.

another good idea, but i can't see GM wanting to pony up the $$$ to buy Cosworth.....they are probably more than complacent enough in nascar, alms, etc...

and it was a slip of my mind that made me forget about GM's share in subaru...you'd think they'd try to play it up more, especially since the WRX STI is a hit

I'll be that guy! It's too expensive. GM will never sell enough Cadillacs in Europe to justify the cost of an F1 team. "Yay, we spent a billion dollars over 4 years and we sold 15 CTS' and an XLR, whoo!"

For what it's worth, it has been reported that Ferrari spent over $420 million in 2003 on Formula 1 racing. The second highest spender (can't remember who) spent over $300 million. I don't know if that's US dollars, Euros, or Pesos, but that sure is a bunch if you ask me.
