Is everybody misinformed about the 300?

So far everybody I’ve talked to, has said "the 300 comes with a Hemi for $23,000". And when you tell them that only the 300C comes with the Hemi, and its over $30,000 they have no idea what I’m talking about.

Has anybody else run into these people?

Yes. For some reason I've seen many posts on boards were they compare the 300C to some other car and they say for 23K-24K with the 345HP Hemi. How WRONG they are.

The Hemi model starts at an MSRP of $32,995!

How many engine choices are the in the 300?

There is 3.5L 250HP V6 and 345HP 5.7L Hemi.

I believe I read there was supposed to be a 2.7L for the base model?

Just went to chrysler.ca website to look at their offerings in Canada, and all models of 300 come with at least 3.5L (that's for 300, 300 Touring, and 300 Limited).

Is 2.7L only for US market?

The 300C (which is the model with the Hemi) msrps at 32995. DCX is offering loyalty cash of 1000n for previous DCX owners. The Hemi in the C comes with 340 hp, and 390 lb/ft of torque. The touring comes with the 2.7, and the limited with the 3.5.

Edmunds.com says a minimully equipped 300C with no sunroof is going for about $33k after the whoop-de-do $1k discount. It's a good value... but the styling is still too weird in my book. And IMHO a GTP CompG is a far better performance value and it comes with a HUD and roof for $25 or $26k.

Can't really compare the Comp G with the 300C. A better comparision would be an Acura TL and the Comp G. The only real competitor to the 300C would be an auto GTO (I know it has two doors), the format (front engine, rwd) are the same. I think the 300C is a bargain when compared to the GTO. It is also faster, according to Motor Trend, Car and Driver.

You clearly do not live in a four-season climate

Nope! I had a nice 1999 GTP, I added the SLP cold air, pulleys, and loudmouth exhaust. I was gonna get good guys headers, but an exchange student with a 1967 VW bug decided to make my day and my GTP went the way of the dodo. I had major problems with torque steer. Couldn't get used to the front wheel drive burnouts.

Looks like you'r right on about that. Out of curiosity I checked out the Chrysler Canada website as well and low and behold - no 2.7 litre engine. I also cross-referenced against a Canadian Driver article that also states as much.

For anyone who's curious, the article can be found here.

The GTO is faster according to Motor Trend, May 2004, they test both the auto 04 GTO and the 05 300C in that issue. The GTO ran 0 to 60 in 5.4 sec and a quarter mile time of 13.85 at 101 mph vs. the 300C 0 to 60 5.8 and the quarter mile at 14.27/98 mph. If you want to compare it to the 05 GTO it won't even be close with the 400 hp LS2 installed.

It appears commonplace for most to quote the worst mag times for the GM car and the best for another make. It works out best for comparison's sake....didn't you know?

The 5.4 sec time I posted was for an automatic GTO tested in the same issue of Motor Trend as the automatic 300C times. These are published times in the same issue, May 04. I was responding to another post that said the 300C being tested by Motor Trend was faster. It's not even close as even the top speed of the 300C is only 126mph.

The 300 C is not a performance car, it is a 4000+ pound sedan with a powerful engine. It really shoudn't be compared with the GTO, as I said I was responding to some mis-information posted here.

I know you were....I'm saying that your approach was the right one. However, I've seen some 300C swingers (or GM bashers) quote the best times for the 300C and the worst for the GTO when comparing the two.
