Even more Solstice spy pics!

Is it just me or does this one seem a lot lower and wider? This doesn't seem to have the same proportions as the old Solstice.

Also I noticed that they changed the rear of the car. It dropped the middle exhaust outlets for a regular side outlet.

I don't know if the proportions are different or if it's just a different camera angle, but I like it regardless. It appears to have a very nice stance judging from that rear view photo.

So according to that article - GM has still not given it the go ahead officially? Yet there we are - more spy shots of a an aprarently bonafide mule. GM would be nucking-futs not to bring this car to market now... I think it will sell like hot cakes. Lines looks great - even under the cammo.

Makes you dream of a certain other unapproved program having a bonafide mule hiding somewhere, doesn't it... ??

It definitely would compete with all the other 2-seat, underpowered import roadsters.

It could just be the disguise, but I agree with Burmite. I think it looks a little wider. Probably just the result of a production intent platform rather than the show car's hand-built structure. I find it hard to belive that they'd have a mule - especially one of this level of fit and finish - it looks more production than the C6 Vette spy shots - running around unless we're seriously looking at a production announcement soon. I also echo jrp4uc "Keep weight down and power up and might be my next car." If we can get close to 6 flat 0-60 and a base price of 22k with a manual and nice standard equipment I'll take one!

I think alot of you are forgetting something. The concept Solstice was as wide as the 4th gen Camaro at 74 inches!! The concept Solstice was also had a pretty low height (lower than Camaro by at least a few inches).

It looks like it's proportions transfered over.

I don't think that the Solstice platform could have come this far in this short of a time. Solstice has to be a modified version of another platform that was seriously under development when the concept car made its debute. I think that Solstice is riding on whatever VE/Sigma mass parts the next camaro will ride on. Remember someone said the platform for the Next Camaro was decided before the last one rolled off the assembly line. It may not be called Camaro now or then but people know what it will be. Also if it is true that the platform was decided before August 27, 2002 then the only platform I can think of that was underdevelopment besides Corvette is Sigma/VE.

I believe it was said that the Solstice concept was on a modified J-car platform but for production, they were searching for something that would be right and keep the cost down..............correct me if I am wrong.

The concept was put together from a modified J-car. Don't take concept cars at face value, it's more a demonstration of design with occasional future engine technology thrown in.

All GM's future RWD cars (minus Corvette & XLR) will share components, and one engineer here some months ago received plans for the Solstice's rear suspension.

With Vauxhall and Opel now part of Solstice's plan, GM should have the volume to make the car more very feasible (remember, they dropped Saturn & Buick from the plan, so they obviously aren't worried about getting volume anymore!).

If it's going to come out in 2005 as scheduled it's about where it should be.

Yes, that's next year...no I'm not joking!
