Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

i'll most likely be buying an '06 stang. i hate to buy first year models because they always seem to have a few bugs in em, otherwise i'd prolly have one this winter. some people might feel like waiting, however i'll be out of college spring '06 and be looking for a new car, if there is no camaro, i'll buy a 'stang. besides, i'm a huge fan of the 60's model stangs, and hate the looks of all the other stangs. a red '06 stang GT would look bad *** next to my sisters red '68 stang.

1.a. I'm pissed, where's the Camaro.
1.b. GM ignores enthusiast base.
2. GTO looks like a Grand Am.
3. What do you want in your 5th gen.

And encourage the newer ones to simply do a search. This is getting a little tiring. I swear, if there is one more person who will post that GM ignores its enthusiasts and where's the Camaro.... I'm going to do something bad.
So then everything on the forum should just be "GOOOO GM! GM rules! Nothing wrong with GM at all! Their great! They killed my Camaro but who cares! Their perfect! Kill off all sports cars! More SUVS! Yayyyyyy General! Honda and Toyota and Ford are just posers! No competition for the General! Then maybe kill off Buick and Chevrolet, why quit at Olds? GOOOO! " I feel like thats the way a lot of you feel all posts on this message board should be IMHO there isn't too much GM bashing here, theres too many people that actually think everything GM does has been blessed by God himself.

You can't blame people for stating their very supported opinion on a message board like this. Although I never did think the GTO looked like a Grand Am If someone else does then who cares?

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

Even I dont think that ALL of GM is perfect, but I do belive that most of there products are better then what Ford offers. I am upset at GM for killing the Fbodies, but I, as well as others, can wait 2 years for a Camaro. I can keep the faith.

Yeah, you can give your opinion...but dragging out the "why hasnt GM made a Camaro cause the Mustang rocks!!" threads are starting to get really old, really fast.

There are only TWO things you can talk about? Praising GM and criticizing GM?

This is the trouble with those who had been here a little and those who are new. No problem with expressing opinions, but did you ever try posting "guys, what spark plugs to get for my Lt1/LS1" in the appropriate forum? do a search, for pete's sake. that'll be everyone's reaction, or most everyone's reaction.

Why do you think we have this thread pinned down at the top " ATTENTION: Before you post a "new" Camaro concept, get in here!!! " It is a case of people expressing their opinions on a concept, but we covered it so many times that it just saves some frustration of not seeing it posted time and again.

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

$20k fwd - Cobalt SS, Saturn ION Redline
$30k rwd 350 hp - GTO
$43k rwd 400 hp - Vette
$50k rwd 400 hp - CTSv
$75k rwd 325 hp - XLR

With the exception of a hipo truck and a $25k rwd Camaro, it sure as hell looks like GM cares about the enthuiast from the top-down. You can bitch that you dont have a Camaro to buy, but dont bitch that GM isnt making fast cars aimed at the enthuiast

edit- typo on CTSv horsepower

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

Yea, that was my fault, typo. I'll change it.

Although, not to hijack this, but will the CTSv get the LS7 when the Z06 comes out?

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

Ive heard that the CTS-V will get the LS7. I think its the easiest and cheapest way to make 500hp, and keep the cars price about the same.

Big for who? For a small band of camaro enthusiasts?
GM has a hi-po truck...2 hi-po trucks. SSR and the SS Silvy. They might not have Saturn V rockets strapped on them, but they are high performance.

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

I am keeping the faith while still applauding the new Mustang. Why? Ford came out with a credible V8 performance car for $24,995. Period. In 2005 dollars. Well equipped with standard equipment. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to see. Why? Because it vindicates the theory there is no reason why a manufacturer needs to charge more than $25k for a pretty much all-new car. Consider this...a 2002 Z28, on a 20 year old chassis (say what you will about the updates the 4th gen brought) cost $25,000 with the power group and traction control. Ignore t-tops for a moment. So 3 years later, Ford has an all-new car for the same price.

Sure, the F body was a screaming performance bargain. But so is this car!!! People made the argument that the new F body HAD to be more expensive because it would be a new design with new tooling, etc. Ford proves this price point is still viable. I applaud Ford, even though I really dislike the new car, a lot. I appreciate it for its performance, price and content...but detest the style with a passion...

I look forward to the new Chevy Coupe, but at the same point appreciate the Mustang for what it is, and do not blame people who swap from Camaros to the new Mustang. And for those who whine about no new Camaro, there are sill a ton of GM performance choices...

-$22k Ion Redline and Cobalt SS
-$22k Colorado Sport Extended Cab with 5 cylinder 5 speed
-$27k G6 GTP with a 6 speed and 240hp in Spring '05
-$28-30k GTP Grand Prix...how soon you guys forget what a nice performance car a Comp G is. Also, the Impala SS when adding in rebates is a nice car as well...my uncle scored a loaded one for $24k!! Put the Supercharged Monte SS in this category too...
-$33k GTO
-$35-38k Silverado SS
-$43k Corvette

The above list by Chuck was very good, but do not forget the new G6 and the old-standby blown GTP. As mentioned Impala SS and Monte SS with rebates, while nothing new, are fun buys too...I don't see any GTP owners complaining their cars are no fun!!

Trucks are tools....I don't want to drive a truck for a daily driver....I want a sports/pony car......

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

I do. Infact, I want a 500 hp truck to tow around a 280 hp Typhoon (when Im no longer making -$10,000 a year being a student...)

I dont consider the SSR or the Silverado SS very hipo trucks. The SSR, while now 400 hp, is still more of a gimicky truck, not something I'd take to the track. The SS, which I must admit looks beautiful, definitely deserves the name Silverado RS more than SS. 345 hp would have been great in 1996, but not so much now.

GM killed both my favorite car and truck but one day...

Re: Dude, where's my Camaro?

Just remember, brand loyalty is only good for "the brand" especially when it isn't being earned.
If the first Mustang had been a flop, there wouldn't have ever been a Camaro.
If you love everything GM makes, congratulations. You are a part of the market target. If you don't, then you aren't. Find something that makes you happy and if enough people stray, then maybe GM will notice and impress us again. It's pretty simple.
