Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

heres what i dream of:

T-Tops.

V8 of at least 350 HP. (would be AWESOME to see a 375HP 396 on the table after the 427 Z06.)

no frills!! a.k.a. no active handling, no DOD, no traction control, available w/o AC, power NOTHING, basically i want me, an engine, 4 tires and the road. no DAMN computers vetoing every decision i make. (the comp can handle fuel injection and auto tranny shift points. thats about IT)

SS/Z28 MANDATORY 6-speed. NO AUTO OPTION!!!!!

IRS is fine w/ me as long as it helps handling w/o sacrificing the holeshot completely.

all under $30K (should be easy as its a no frills speed demon.)

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

The days of stripper cars with no options has come and gone. Its great to individualize a car from the factory but the economic realites dictate otherwise.

185" length

Base V6 Cars.

3.2L 235hp HF V6
A6/M6
16" 245/50/16 tires

RS

315hp 5.3L
A6/M6
posi 3.23/3.42
17" tires

SS
6.0 LS2
405hp
A6/M6
18" tires

Z/28
6.3L 450hp---3 valve heads (7000 rpm redline)
M6--hardtop only

No t-roofs but targa roof optional (no cars with targa standard equipment)
No cars standard with leather--no avail at all on Z/28
No friggin AWD.

Lots of colour selesction: black, white, silver, green, two blues, red, sunset orange.

NO IRS! Mustang is just fine without it.

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

My dream 5th gen just has to appeal enough to me, someone who will be almost 23 when I graduate from college. I want to see a car that has all the qualities to beat a mustang, and anything else around that price while offering styling to lure in people who don't already drive a camaro.

ok, your right, but i at least want the computer stripped of almost all decision making responsibilities.

thats why i like my 68. i put my foot down and it goes. whether its a good idea or not. the computer (or lack thereof) doesnt decide if its too much throttle or not. I DO.

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

As long as we're talking wish list:

RWD Coupe with sliding moon roof (ala G6)
7.0 L NA V8 with DoD (just drop in the Z06 motor )
6 speed automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters with dual mode semi-automatic and fully automatic settings (this is so my wife could drive it. )
dual power/heated leather seats (charcol)
6-speaker+1 am/fm/cd/dvd/mp3 with in-dash 10 disc changer
AC/PW/PL/Cruise/Nav
Adjustable Autocross/Road suspension system (controlled from the cockpit)
Functional forced air induction hood
Paint: Black

That should be good for what? $60K?

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

Performence has to be the Camaro's #1 prioroity.

240hp 3.9 V6 standard.
~275 to 300hp supercharged V6 optional.
350hp V8 standard(LS1 level of power)
450hp V8 optional(at least 25 more horses than what Ford offers if the Camaro ever comes back)
NO AWD Camaros have always stood for burnouts, doughnuts, and tire shredding performence in my book. I also doubt that AWD would hold under 400+lb-ft of torque. Especially since you'll have to do a 5k clutch dump to get a decent hole shot.

IRS standard across the board. Not only does it handle better, but it frees space up for the interior. Allow different wheel and tire options across the whole board. Give us optional summer tires too. If you want 18's on your standard V6, make them avaible.

A curb weight of 3400lbs for the V8 models. V6's should weigh ~3200lbs

Interior should be very spacious for front seats, and as long as the back seat isn't any smaller than the 4th gen, I'll be happy. The main priority should be a generous trunk though. All gadgets such as HUD, leather, HID, Nav, boom-boom stereos should be optional, and not made standard on any trim level. However, the interior should be stylish and with the same level of quality as the GTO. I'd like to see something like the wrap-around effect done on the 300zx.

Styling should be completely revolutionary. It still has to look like a Camaro, but should be way more upright than the 4th gen, and much smaller too. Retro cues are okay, but don't make it a retro 69 Camaro. People will smell Mustang rip off from a mile away. 185" seems right. Also ditch the ridiculus overhangs, and make it to where you can't fit your fist between the tire and the fender.

Price:base V6 should start at $19,995 A fully loaded V8 convertible should sell for 39,995 with all the options Really the Camaro should be better than a comparable Mustang, and I don't mind paying a $2000 premium to get a better vechile.

305fan, orbitalshock2k, AronZ28.

The question isn't "what should the 5th gen Camaro be?" That topic has been beat to death.

The question is "describe YOUR dream 5th gen". The ONE you would lay down your hard earned cash for ...and how much of that cash you would lay down for it.

To keep it simple.

RWD
TTops
LS2, or detuned LS7
Low 3300-3400 curb weight

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

I think I am the only person here who doesn't want heated seats, HUD, keyless entry...etc. I could care less about all that and would rather see the cost of these "goodies" go into a better chassis and suspension, and definately a more exciting interior and overall quality.

High power is a given and (hopefully) good looks as these are things that the Camaro has always had in my opinion. I would like to see some interior styling cues from the GTO with its multiple materials, colors and grains and high attention to quality.

I would also have to put in a vote for not going retro but rather forward moving and evolutionary somewhat like the C6. And as far as evolutionary, if the Camaro evolves as much frmo 4th gen to 5th gen as the mustang did from '04 to '05, it would be unstoppable as long as it is priced to match (V8 version coming in below $30,000 with some options).

Okay, now I get ya

What I want is a 500 hp LS7 powered beast. Basically give me a 4 seat Z06 with a trunk and call it a day.

Re: Dream 5th Gen ....

I want an LS7 but don't see that happening. I want a Z/28 badge. yes with the little "/"

I'd like a 396 small block with 425 hp. I'd also like the ability to check an option box for low compression pistons and forged internals for those who enjoy a little forced induction (me).

I want a 6-speed manual tranny.

I don't want all this damn smog equipment like I have on my y2k Z. I don't want torque management. I want a strong *** rear end. I don't want a speed limiter.

I'd like the opportunity to have t-tops but I don't know if I'd check the box or not. Structural rigidity versus the tornado of wind??? I dunno.

I'd like a HUD.

I'd like at least 10-10.5 inch wide tires in the rear. 18's for me please.

I'd like mine black, likely with black five spoke wheels or at least a dark grey for the wheels.

I don't need frills like a nice stereo--i can do that myself.

PDL, PW, AC are a must.

12 disc CD Changer.

What do you think is reasonable for this? 30-32k? I'd like to pay less but with a low comp engine I'd go for that price.
