Osh 2 is going to be merged with Osh 1 as a large flex manufacturing facility.

Also, the same people who working at #2 will likely be working at the new facility.

Finally, even though Osh 2 is an award winning facility, the new Osh plant will be far and away even better still.

I wonder if the writer of that article knows any of this.

Headline makes it sound like GM is just shooting itself in the foot.

C'mon Guy! It wouldn't be as near an entertaining read if that was mentioned!

They jumped to conclusions and there was not a GM rep immediately available to explain.

Yeah, there are 2 (well, actually 3 or 4! ) different GM plants in Oshawa . Two build cars, one builds trucks, and there's a battery plant too.

The car plants, #1 and #2, while they are currently run seperately, are going to be merged under one "umbrella". However, in the interim, #2 is being shut-down so they can start to convert over to the flex line, then #1 will be taken down later on and converted, and eventually the entire plant will be one giant flex plant. Unfortunately, even though I know a couple people who work there, I really don't get much "insider info" ... A) because even the EMPLOYEES don't get much info (kind of like how dealership salesmen know little to nothing about cars ) and B) I'm sure the guys can only share so much info, so as to avoid the dreaded "black Suburbans" .
