Cliffnotes: Some GTR owner shut-off the VDC(Vehicle Dynamic Control) and his $20K tranny blew up and Nissan said that if you turn off the VDC your warranty is void.

The transmission in that car is how much?????

BTW I don't think VDC being turned off would cause an issue... launch control's excessive use might though but still, how stupid to market the car's performance using a number that can only be achieved a few times before you void the warranty.

"0-60 in 3.4 seconds*"

*-15 or so times in the car's entire life, or else you might be out 20 grand

If I were Nissan, I'd want to make this right, before it engulfs the internet.

Yup. I think thats exactly what he intended. He said 20k for this trans... So if the trans goes out again another 20k

So assuming he didnt beat the crap out of it and this complaint is as advertised, this has to be a much bigger issue than what kind of tires they used at Nubering. The funny thing I think is its Pony car size

How common is stuff like this? I know GTO, and CTS had rear issues. Did the Z06 have any drive train issues?

The GTO and CTS-V didn't really have issues with the rear-end, but with the wheel-hop that is mostly caused by the suspension which is a cheap fix.

Ha don't you know why you are allowed to turn off the VDC? It is to help you rock out of snow, not to achieve top performance. Per the GT-R owner's manual...

Can't comment on the ZR1 yet since they are just now hitting the streets but as far as the Z06 is concerned using or not using any of the drivers aids does not void your warranty. Furthermore you can certainly launch it hard more than 20 times and it will take and only ask for more. The Z06 drivetrain is stout. There may be anomalies out there but they are few and far between. The Z06 was built to be driven hard not babied for fear of breaking. I'm speaking from personal experience here.

. . . not to mention that it *doesn't* have a maintenance schedule with 7 (that's SEVEN) blank spaces for replacement transmissions, like the GT-R.
