Pfft.. I'm one to think that the 600HP 8.1L figures will be either 1) ridiculously unaffordable, like $75,000 range, or 2) significantly watered down if that thing ever comes into production.
That 18-wheeler front end look never grew on me. I hate it now as much as when I first saw it. Nice mechanical stats though.

Cool, but i see it as a waste. That "truck" doesn't really need 600hp. One thing though, does that mean that the viper will get the same motor too?
What Dodge really needs to build is a 380-400hp Hemi based v8 Charger and price it at about the 25-30k mark.

The idea behind it would be to give you something you, in fact, DON'T need.
This just in,
General Motors decides to counter Dodge's agressive 600 hp SRT-10 with a 170 HP Silverado SS penta-cab.
"We're extremely excited about bring back the 305 tbi engine and coupling it with this new revolutionary 5-door extended cab truck." Said Bob Lutz.
The pentacab design is derived from the windsheild now acting like a door, making the ability to flick off the Lighting or SRT-10 that just beat you even easier.
"We feel by letting the customer extend their middle finger not only up to the windshield, but though the windsheild they'll be able to acheive maximum 'I just got my *** kicked' effect" Lutz added.
Also standard on the Silverado SS pentacab are revolutionary 34" rims and a extended 19 foot bed.
"This is exactly where we want to start out in the sport truck market. We definitely have some plans to build on this. We're looking at adding 2 more wheels, creating the first hexa-turn system. The public has been expressing enthusiasm over this sort of vehicle for a while now, and I feel its time GM delivered something that really gets back to the Super Sport roots" Lutz ended with.

Anyways, you're missing my drift. It's going to be a mega bucks 600hp limited production "truck" that going to probably weigh close to 5,000lbs. I'd like to see them put half that effort into a much smaller and affordable sports offering like the Charger and mass produce it. I bet you'd welcome the Idea of a 600hp Chevy SS truck and "NO" f-bod right? i personally see performance coupes and cars as more of a priority then sport trucks.

No it doesn't NEED it but i opted for them because i wasn't really satisfied with the stock #'s. There's a difference between a modified 300-320rwhp 5.0 and a stock 600hp Truck. I don't need a 600hp mustang. I'd like to have it but i don't NEED it. If ford was offering a 600hp mustang, cool but the price tag will definitely be out of my range. Same with this truck, it's cool but i don't really care for it.

actually the truck does need 600HP because it weighs more, if it was a car it would only need 400HP.

I don't hate performance trucks, I actually liked the Lightning even though i wouldn't buy one. The difference was that the lightning was somewhat affordable. But the fact that it was faster then the GT and almost just as fast as the Cobra didn't sit well with me. There's something wrong when your performance truck is just as fast as you fastest performance car. I'd like to see GM/Ford/Dodge get as just serious about their performance cars as their performance trucks. And i'm not talking about the big buck Z06, Viper, or GT/40 either. I'm talking f-bod, mustang, and a possible Charger.
Rant mode off
. Tis just my opinion.
