Am I correct in assuming the EV doesn't even need (or have) a shifter (or a conventional transmission)? Just floor it?

Electric motor torque FTW! From a dig it's pretty tough to beat an electric with insta-torque. Nothing beats that good V8 rumble though, slamming the gears and burning up your tires.

Is that what the production EV will look like? How much $$$ are we talking? I've been liking what I've been seeing w/ that car, but I read something about it being Lotus bodied currently, and no mention of a price point...

it looks like toward the end of those races the challenger takes an awful long time to make that last shift... the last run it almost looks as if he crosses the line coasting... looks staged...

he stopped accelerating and started braking whereas EV just kept going.

Consider that the Dodge EV seems to be awfully similar to the Tesla Roadster, and that the Tesla does the quarter in 12.7@104. It's rather quick through the 1/8-mile (despite the slow 60' time), but obviously runs out of steam shortly thereafter.

Assuming that the EV does indeed perform like the Roadster, that Challenger should have been coming up on the EV's tail awfully quickly towards the back end of the traack.
