There have been some rumors lately that that in addition to Dodge releasing Charger as a "swoopy" sedan, it also plans on a two door Charger.

Well...there are whispers, murmurs and innuendos.....that Charger will be FOUR DOOR ONLY.

The two door......according to the rumor mill..... is the Challenger.

 

Charger and Challenger. Cool.

 

I can't wait for a spyshot.

Is it just me, or do you think that the name "Challenger" would bring back bad feelings from the 80's?

 

I think most people when they hear Challenger, it conjurs up images of the muscle Challengers in Mopar's glory days.

Either way that would be cool with me. I'm all for old names being brought back cars that do the name justice

 

Cool. I said when I first heard about the Charger here that I hope the Challenger would at least be brought back as the 2-door. (if no 2-door option for the Charger)

 

I still think it will be called the Dodge Daytona. There is suppose to be one, but nobody is sure of much else then the name. Before, all we heard was a 4dr Charger and then some other car called the (Charger)Daytona. Now with the strong rumor of a 2dr version of the Charger, I just think it makes sense.

 

I dont know about that. There hasnt been a Challenger car for some 30 years, and I bet that most people that are alive today know of the NASA Challenger, and not the MOPAR Challenger.

IMO, bad move on Dodges part. Come up with something else. Magnum coupe or something.

 

I don't know, I'm only 23 and I always think of the old muscle cars when I hear Challenger. I'd really love to see it come back as a (smaller than charger) 2 door

 

I think the 2dr "Charger" version will be more of a competitor with the GTO then a Camaro or Mustang. It would be nice to see a car like that from DC, but I highly doubt that will happen.

 

well, you are an enthusast, and thats not the problem. Its the other 90% of the population that has never seen, heard, or walked next to a Challenger. Of corse it sounds good to us, we think of a muscle car. Its what the public thinks, in where DCX could run into issues with the families of the members of the Challenger, as well as the publics outcry to change the name because of the memories the rest of the public has.

 

When I think of Challenger, I think of the late 70's to 83 Dodge Challenger.

They ruined the name Challenger with that move. Make Challenger the four door and Charger the two door.

I for one think that is rediculous. That would be like deciding not to name a sub shop subway, because you cant ride a subway train there. Its two entirely seperate things. Now, I could see what your saying if they called the car the 'the twin towers' or something, because that name is not applicapable to a variety of things like 'challenger' is. only towers. I also dont see how or why the families would get upset about that. First of all dodge used the name long before NASA [or whoever] did, and they have the right to it; so I dont see how they could lose that case if someone with no time on their hands ever did try and fight it.

 

I don't think it's all that rediculous. Sure they have the rights to it...but is it in their best interest? I agree with Big Al.
