Delorean back in production in 2008.
Yes, NEW (not simply rebuilt) Deloreans.
More powerful engines. Better interiors. Hand assembled instead of mass produced.
Price: a very modest $57,500.

I always thought they were kinda cool looking when I was younger, but I've seen a couple of them and they look kinda cheap. It doesn't look like something that would cost 60,000 dollars. Of course, I guess these are going to cost that much because they're being hand assembled.

After Delorean shut down all the material used to build the cars was shipped from the assembly plant in Ireland to Florida. There was enough material on hand to build hundreds if not thousands of additional cars from scratch. For the last decade+ this facility in Florida has been restoring customer owned Deloreans and if the owner chose to they would use new parts. They have in fact built a number of entirely new Deloreans and sold them as such for years now. There was an entire show on this on the History Chanel IIRC.

I think the originals had a 2.8L (give or take) V6 from Peugeot. At least that is what is coming to mind. Some small French V6. Not particularly powerful, at all.
An LS2 and some better wheels and tires would kick *** on one of those. With the LS2 you wouldn't even need the Flux Capacitor.
