CTS Super V
CTS Super V
Remember those photos that surfaced last week (or was it this week?) of the CTS-V with the hood scoop that most dismissed as an early test mule of the V car we now have? Well, apparently the General has a plan, and it involves 600 horses and limited production! Read the article over at Autoweek.
Man, things sure are heating up over at Cadillac. Too bad this kind of performance is beyond the reach of your typical F-car aficionado! But it looks like the sleeping General has stirred and there is hope. If I could afford it, I'd be in line for one - let alone the "run of the mill" CTS-V.

I wonder if a two door version of the CTS is/was even being considered. So far Sigma vehicles are all 4 door sedan type cars with the exception of the SRX but that's still a multi-door wagon. A CTC would indeed be a nice addition to the line-up.
Even the "base V car" qualifies as "must have", IMO. The Super V is just over the top. I can just hear the lucky SOB who gets one..."Here little M-5, here.....".

It's a shame they (apparently) aren't interested in bulding a Coupe version of the current model.

Supposedly a Coupe version of the next generation CTS is all but a certainty.
Since one of the biggest gripes with the current car is about the interor execution since it was pre-Lutz, I wonder if there'll be noticable improvement here as well. I think I recall that Lutz is/was not a fan of A&S as a design direction.
In any event Caddys at the very least, really visually stand out from the rest of the crowd and not in that objectionable new-BMW kind of way.
Mark LaNeve said at the press day in NYIAS that the CTS will shrink in size in the next generation. I guess more to fit in the 3 series league? What about the possibilty of a Zeta chassised CTC? Sell it at or slightly above the CTS.

Well, there have been rumors of Cadillac getting a Zeta car as well, so that might not be so far off.
I can't imagine a CTS Coupe (as we know it (Sigma)) and a Zeta coupe both at Cadillac, so maybe it's just one or the other, or maybe the Zeta car will be a sedan, though, again, not sure how a Zeta and a Sigma would fit together in the line up, unless one is a coupe, and one is a sedan.
If Caddy is so intent on moving upscale why would they go with a car based on Zeta since that platform is a wrung below Sigma in the heirarchy/cost scheme of things? But, then again, maybe such a move wouldn't matter since all of the Escalade variants are essentially just a smoke and mirrors restyle of somewhat more humble Chevrolet/GMC trucks. That superficial approach certainly hasn't hurt their upscale aspirations in that area. Hmmm, I suppose that I just answered my own question:-)

I think the biggest difference in Zeta and Sigma... won't be in their dynamics or construction......it will be in their flexibility.
Zeta is faaaaar more flexible than Sigma.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen CTS is more Zeta than Sigma.
