The Corvette Parade....
The Corvette Parade....

American Thunder rumbled through the streets of Motor City today when a Corvette caravan commemorated Corvette Racing's fifth victory in the GT1 class at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. The celebration began with the presentation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans trophy at Compuware Corporation, the primary sponsor of the championship-winning Corvette C6.R race cars, and concluded at GM World Headquarters at the Renaissance Center after a parade through Detroit's downtown business district.

Hella Cool!!!
That's the thrill and pride of victories in REAL racing! Being able to point to victories on a car model and knowing the cars that won the race have much in common with the car you actually own.
That's something the NASCAR crowd will never understand (save the shoe sized IQ group that still think the Monte going in circles on the track is associated with the Monte in the parking lot).

Amen! I was lucky enough to see the C5-R's in action back in 2001. It's a shame that ALMS doesn't come Texas Motor Speedway anymore.
I know Chevy does alot of print ads featuring the C6-R's, but I think it would be great to see a C6-R and a Z06 carving up a track in a TV spot. It's high time the general public is informed that there is a form of racing that helps develop production counterparts.

I may not watch the ALMS series that often, but I respect that series a whole hell of a lot more than I respect NASCAR Nextel Cup or any of it's other encarnations. If you ask me, NASCAR is nothing more than a soap opera that takes place on asphalt with all the rule changing, driver whining, fake rivalries and the like. I can't bear to watch it.
