Re: Cobalt Z06

I like it, would be a great Evo/WRX fighter.
Since it's a 4-cylinder, maybe Z04 would work? Just throwin' out an idea.

Maybe, if it wasn't FWD.

Re: Cobalt Z06

Chevy puts "SS" on many different models - no reason for them not to put "Z06" on more than one model too.

(though I personally don't like the idea)

That's totally different IMO. SS is "super-sport".....like "rally-sport" or "grand-sport" or "special edition".....all these common acronyms that show up on the sides of lots of cars out there. But Z06 isn't just an "appearance/performance" package.....whether it's the name of the car or just the RPO code that designates the car, it can't be shared with another car in the line-up (and especially not with a pip-squeak like the Cobalt! ). A Z28 is a Camaro, no question about it. A Z06 is a 'Vette, no question there either. Slap "SS" on the car, sure, 'cause that's just a trim package, and/or a performance package, but it doesn't define the car like Z28 or Z06 would.

You could get the LS6 in a chevelle who cares if something is called zo6. Corvette isnt some sacred artifact. If I had a corvette i would spray some flat black over it and beat the hell out of it. its built to drive.

Re: Cobalt Z06

Looks like it'd need new fenders, doors, and rear quarter panels for this version. It looks like a very expensive variation. Yat, making all models with the same sheetmetal would again reduce it's unique-ness.

Looks good, but I don't feel it would be very practical.

I agree with you. I did a poor job of conveying the sarcasm that I was feeling when I wrote that post.

Bottom line for me....I hope Chevy doesn't do that, but it wouldn't surprise me much if they did.

God NO!!! In GM's ______ years (<--someone please fill in the blank, 'cause I have no idea how many years GM has actually been in business!) they finally built a car better than ANY car they've ever built before, that's actually upto (or dare I say, beyond? ) world standards (performance, quality, etc.) and you want them to stick this name on any old 4-banger in their fleet!?!?!??!?!?? Not trying to bash the new Cobalt, 'cause it sounds like it's supposed to be quite a lot better than its predecessor (the Cavalier) but it's not a Z06.

Re: Cobalt Z06

Did you know the ZL1 existed before the 4 th gen? someone might call that a disgrace. I think the GTO is a disgrace because a real GTO would have been made a performance package on a cheap car allready produced. just like the real ones. The current impala sucks and is a disgrace also What happened to the peformance like the 409 had?

The current S/C 3800 Impala is faster than the old 409 Impalas and LT1 Impala SS, so in a way the Impala performance is stronger than ever.

Z22 was a Canadian RPO for striped Cavalier with Z22 stickers

Re: Cobalt Z06

to be a smart *** here i want them to make a Z28 cobalt now. just because i see how big of a deal people make off of a stupid name. its just a letter and some numbers people. i dont see how any retro named cars disgrace the cars of the past with the same name. times change. cars need to also.
