Cobalt SS without the "ricer" wing? I think it just might be.

Local TV thismorning was highlighting a piece it will be doing on the Cleveland auto show this weekend...

As most of you know, Cobalt is built in my area, so the station highlights Cobalt.

They were showing pictures they say were from a press preview of this weekends show, and they showed a bright blue Cobalt SS, and it had a low wing.

Either that, or there are 2 bright blue Cobalt coupes at the show, one being an SS, and one not, and they showed the SS badge, the SS wheels, etc, then showed the regular coupes wing, but that wouldn't make a lot of sense.

So, in short, perhaps GM did some more listening and plan to offer a more normal spoiler for the Cobalt SS??

That would be good news. I really like the idea of a Cobalt. Nice quick, small car for not a lot. Even better if they lose the basket handle. I'd really like it if it could get something similar to the Grand AM GT's wing. GM"s not going to have much use for those soon anyway.

That very well could be it.

If so, they were pretty misleading with their wording as they were showing the pics.

Nice, that looks a lot better! I really hope that spoiler is at least an option.

Ya, I just can't believe they'd alienate a significant amount of potential buyers, all over a silly spoiler.

Ummm...

We're probably not the target market...

Definately not.

But, by the same token... for every Civic you see out there WITH a triple-decker aftermarket wing... there are literally 200+ without.

From my understanding, i believe i read something about there being two variations of the SS. The blown 2.0 version, and a cheaper N/A 170-175hp 2.4 version. Maye the kind you saw was the N/A version which would probably be more cleaner in terms of appearance.

So maybe we'll see it on an SS, just not the top of the line blown version.

That could be the case as well....

Nope. It should join the lineup later this year. Atleast according to this Feb 2005 C&D article on the Cobalt which is a pretty recent article.

The SS non-supercharged will join the lineup in the 2006MY with a 2.4 VVT Ecotec. Much similar to the show car from last season. IMO, I wish they'd call it LT like how they wisely changed the naming on the Monte Carlo.

I agree LT is a better name. Having two versions of the SS will just cause confusion and **** people off.
